Nearly all penalties in the NFL are subjective. Holding, pass interfere, roughing passers. They say you can call offensive holding on every play. I think the defensive holding call on Philly was ticky tacky. Easily could not have been called despite what the player said. Would have been much more interesting to have KC kick the FG then, and see what Philly could do with just under a minute left vs only having one play.

One other thing I took from the game was the brute power of Philly's O-line. They way they bulldozed KC's D-line on all those 4th down QB sneaks was absolutely impressive.

I'm betting KC's strength and conditioning coach will have his guys doing a lot more heavy squats in the offseason.

Don't forget that Jalen Hurts was a power lifter himself. And probably still is. His leg strength is one of the reasons he's so effective on those short yardage situations. He's like having a fullback or an offensive lineman at QB when they only need a yard or two.

Proud Parent Alert: My son actually deadlifts 500. And Cleans/Push Presses 315. He's only 5'11" and 205 lbs. No chemical help, either.

Not sure where he got his strength from as I never got anywhere close to those totals in my younger stronger days. I do worry about him tearing a bicep from those heavy deadlifts. I keep telling him to drop down in weight and do more reps, but you know how the male ego works. And who listens to their dad anyway.

FWIW, as a Cards fan, I was kinda hoping for Brian Flores (before he was off the market).

Oh come on, you know those helped make it easier, i agree with all points that fouls were committed but you can't deny the whistle helped KC in 3 games in last 2 years in playoffs

FWIW I’ve heard the competition committee wants to put some pressure on the league to modify officiating.
I’m a Falcons fan for life. As a Falcons fan, I know full well your team can sling my quarterback to the ground by their mask and rarely draw a flag, likewise, it has always been illegal for our DL to touch Tom Brady. Officials are human and they are lifelong football fanatics. It’s crazy to think they are neutral even though I think they try to be.
I think the league learned they have to do better. Bottom line, refs didn’t steal the game from the Eagles because at that moment the Eagles were not in the lead and nobody can say 100% what would have happened. We know Mahomes would have killed a down and burned 40 seconds and then Butker would have kicked the FG. Then you can only speculate what happens next. Maybe Hurts leads a miracle drive. Or maybe the officials get tired of Jason Kelce flinching before the snap to try to draw KC offsides which I counted 24 times he positioned early.
My team tries to lose on purpose so I am not for or against either the Chiefs or the Eagles. But Eagles played better both sides first half. Chiefs played better both sides second half. And the refs called a pretty clean game and depending who you rooted for you saw game altering calls that you didn’t like.
That’s sports.

As a Dirty Bird I’m sincerely hopeful my Falcons will get the ball to their best players this season, Pitts and London. But since we have an OC who is not empowered to call scheme even though he was an NFL quarterback and our offense is called by a lineman who hires his friends as assistants I don’t know what will happen. And I sincerely believe the reason Arthur Smith waited until after game 13 to finally start Ridder is that there is inconclusive data for the new quarterback. That buys Smith another full season before he is going to be held accountable for the W/L record.

Roger Goodell believes the officiating in the NFL was the best ever last season. I doubt you'll see any meaningful changes. Maybe a couple token adjustments to appease fans like when they made changes for player safety.

When we hosted Super Bowl parties at our house, I'd tell everyone to bring pizza and Lay's potato chips (my favorite chips on this earth, the plain ones). The wife would get flustered with me, but I'd tell her we'll have lots of leftovers for a couple days.
Well, until I ran across a few folks who seemed to think it was ok to take home with them what they brought if there were leftovers. Those chumps didn't get an invite to other events at our house.

It’s hard to get a man to understand something when his salary depends on his not understanding it.

If he acknowledges the poor officiating, it’s only a matter of time before all officials are full time employees, with all the expenses that entails.

The Eagles' defense, in retrospect, may have been overrated a bit. The Eagles only faced four playoff teams during the regular season, and the overmatched Giants and the Niners with essentially no QB in the playoffs. In their defense, though, the Chiefs only slightly beat their regular season average of 29 points per game.

I hear ya'. One of my "little guys" is like that. I think in this first pic he's "only" dead-lifting around 435. I think he was in the Border Patrol when these were taken.

About 15 or 20 years ago he was building a stone mailbox and a stone wall around a flower bed at our house. He was working as a stone mason at that time and his boss had a scrap pile of rocks that were deemed to be not good enough for the Rhodes College building where they were working. So he told my son that he could take any stones he wanted from that scrap pile.

We were loading up my truck with rocks. I went to grab a pretty big one and he said, "Here Dad, let me get that one." It was then that I realized I was no longer the strongest man in my family...

Patrick Mahomes standing up there on stage pacing back and forth holding a Coors Light, looked wasted already and dressed like he just got out of bed. A few of the other players looked the same. It was on mute, and I didn't even want to know what they sounded like.
There's a little thing called class, but I think they all left that at home when they headed out for the day. Just because you won some meaningless football game doesn't give you a pass on showing class.
