For once I'll get on the Steelers-criticism train. I don't understand this hire. During Smith's tenure as head coach in Atlanta, the Falcons were notorious for underutilizing their best skill players (London and Pitts, and at the end Robinson). Now the limiting factor may have been Desmond Ridder at QB, but presumably Smith had some input into that bad choice.

It's easy to explain.
Tomlin doesn't want anyone on that staff who poses any kind of threat to him as head coach or his ability to run the team. He calls the defense, he calls the offense, he calls it all. As long as he surrounds himself with guys who can't get jobs elsewhere in the NFL, he'll always have the upper hand and final say.
Think about it, what does the Mike Tomlin coaching tree look like? I mean if we're going to act like he's one of the greatest head coaches ever, surely after 17 years he's developed some coaches along the way who went on to succeed head coaching or even assistant coaching jobs elsewhere, right?

I don't care about either team playing, so I wasn't inclined to watch the game in the first place. Knowing I'm going to be hearing about Taylor Swift all afternoon, that's reason enough for me not to bother at all.
Maybe I'll go to the mall to get an Orange Julius and a t-shirt from Hot Topic since all the teenage girls will be at home watching the Super Bowl.

This is why defensive coordinators usually only get one shot at being a head coach. More often than not, they make poor, if not flat out bizarre, choices for offensive coordinator. The only reason I was okay with the Bears keeping Eberflus was Ryan Poles taking over the OC search.

The theory seems to be that they hired Kilff because he coached the top QB at USC and they're trying to attract him to the Commanders. Evidently they think he doesn't want to play for Washington.

Najee is going to hover around 500 yards this season. Art Smith is the worst kind of idiot, the kind with all the power and absolute conviction that he’s right no matter what.

He coached 2 Heisman winners. One of them only for a year. The other is the best QB in the league. I don’t know how Washington will end up but he’s a solid coach.
And if W wants to trade the QB who gained 4,200 yards and 26 TDs behind a terrible O line and limited targets, who’s going to get blamed for a bad defense, please send him to Atlanta.

I'm torn. I'm not a fan of either. So normally I'd default to how many Sooner players a team has on the active roster. Damn. Each has three. I want to see Mahomes challenge Brady's records because I hate Brady. But I like the idea of "Mr Irrelevant" winning his first Super Bowl appearance after being talked about this season as not being near the best QB in the NFC.
So I guess I really don't care who wins. But my Brady hate might win out.
