When I like both teams and/or don’t have a strong dislike for one of them, I tend to root for the one that has had a longer title drought. In this case, that’s tough, because this is a matchup of the current dynasty team versus one of the past dynasty teams. I’ve enjoyed this 9ers team a lot, so I’ll be pulling for them in my heart . But I have ultimate respect for the chiefs as well, so I’m just going to enjoy the game for once without being worried about being devastated when the football version of the Death Star prevails.

There are no words for how much I loathed Tom Brady. It started with the tuck rule and proceeded from there. From the magic PI calls that always seemed to go his way right when he needed them, to the whining and crying whenever he didn’t get a call, to the endless pick plays on the outside that never got called, to the crossing routes to the little short receivers who always got concussion after concussion playing that game, to the tablet throwing tantrums and screaming at his teammates…all of it.
But most of all, I hated the basic script of his modus operandi: fall way behind, then make a miraculous and stirring comeback at the end to pull out the game out of “sheer will”.
I hate that game. I hate it when it’s Brady, I hated it when it was Kobe, I hated it when it was Dwyane Wade, I hated it when it was Magic.
Don’t play like crap and then make a dramatic comeback. No. Show up and play a great game, from beginning to end. Don’t whine, cry, and pout. Just put your big boy pants on, keep your **** together, go out and do your best and live with that. Don’t blame your teammates in full view of the cameras and then act all politically correct at the postgame interview and say all the right things. No. Just show up and do your job, and understand that it isn’t always about you.[/sports rant]
The good news is, this Super Bowl doesn’t have any of that as a likely possibility. Instead, it has two excellent, respectable, and worthy teams vying for the ultimate prize. May the better team on that given Sunday walk away with the trophy.
