NFL Week #1

Ok, it irritated me enough that I'm going to list my sources.

The knee ( yes the MRI is of the hammy injury, which basically rules him out as a serious starter on day 1 according to all but the most optimistic armchair doctor ) but the knee is the real concern. Will it hold up? He's not been the best at staying in shape or staying healthy going back to his college days. Houston is famous for disinformation in regards to injuries.
Arian Foster Undergoes Knee Surgery

Texans coach Gary Kubiak said in a press conference Friday that Arian Foster (hamstring) is still considered "day to day."
"Until he's out there it's a concern, but everything is moving in the right direction," said Kubiak. Just reading tea leaves, the Texans' decision to hold Ben Tate, Derrick Ward, and Steve Slaton out of Thursday night's preseason finale may indicate concern with Foster's availability for Week 1 against the Colts. The Texans will likely continue to rest Foster until late next week, then possibly list him as questionable on the injury report. Sep 2 - 3:41 PM

Owen Daniels
Coach Gary Kubiak compared Owen Daniels to Shannon Sharpe as a "playmaking receiver." * I have to laugh ..seriously?? Shannon Sharpe??? That's rich! *
We haven't heard a peep about Daniels being nicked in Texans camp. For a guy that hasn't completed a full season since 2008, that's huge If you're not on the field, you're inconsistent at best. Now with his knee at 100 percent, Daniels can resume capitalizing on his strong chemistry with Matt Schaub. The 2011 Draft Guide conservatively projects Daniels for 67 catches and six touchdowns. Aug 10 - 8:26 AM He's got 4 CONTINUOUS years of injury history. That, my friends, is a trend. He is, in fact, injury prone.

Kevin Walter He has great hands and a good report with Shaub. Why, then, the inconsistent tag? He hasn't been the sole #2 WR. He splits time ( nearly a 50/50 split ) with Jacoby Jones. 2 different WR's going in and out of an offense make different reads and react differently to defenses. THAT is inconsistent for the QB.

The schedule is on NFL.com

What I listed is air tight. I'd float that boat across any waters of reason you wish to bring.

heh I didn't blow my top.

To be told pretty much everything you listed is wrong is a strong comment. I don't make off the cuff claims, I actually try to be informed before I say something. Consider this my "proof work" for the assignment. I'm waiting for the professor to show me exactly where I was wrong on everything.

Detroit at Tampa Bay should be a good one, two young teams trying to make their mark. Can Tampa protect their QB? Can Detroit run the ball (I hope they sign Chester Taylor)? They beat Tampa Bay at Tampa last year in OT without Stafford. Stafford stays upright, Detroit wins.

Packers-31 Saints-24

ATL is going to beat the hell out of Da Bears. 42-14

Indy 35 texans 17

Buffalo and KC... who cares?

Jacksonville over Tennesse...

Cleveland over cincy in the toilet bowl

philly over st. louis

The steelers and ravens... Hrm. If the steelers defense looks anything like they did in the superbowl, they are screwed.

lions bucs... who cares...

vikings chargers...... who cares...

giants over the skins 21-17

Cards over the panthers. 1048523-3. Because my step brother likes the panthers and hes a douche.

Seattle over the 9ers. Alex Smith is a joke. Though, not as funny as tony romo.

I'm gonna go ahead and say that the Jets are going to absolutely destroy the Cowboys. I have zero faith in the cowboys. In fact, from now on, the Cowboys are no longer America's team. They are Poland's team. And I bet wittle tony womo bweaks his wittle fingy again.

NE over Miami. Not sure that game warrants monday night.

OAK over DEN because if there is one thing i hate more than raiders fans, its definitely bronco fans.

I thought I'd be more excited about the NFL by now, but I'm more excited for college football and the upcoming NHL season.

I quickly scanned the final cuts, and didn't catch anything overly surprising. Did any of you guys see any "what the......?" cuts?

No team is going to be able to protect their QB from Detroit's front 4. Stafford to Calvin will be the best QB/WR combo in the league. The Lions will win the NFC North this year. Remember you heard it here first.

Don't believe me? Let's look at how they fared against the team that won the Super Bowl last year and is the favorite to win it again. In the 2 games combined against the Packers last year, the Lions outscored the Packers and beat them in every offensive and defensive category except for rushing yards gained. With their 2nd and 3rd string QBs playing, no less. Did you see what they did to the Pats last week? I know it was just preseason but you can't tell me that Tom Brady and the rest of the guys weren't playing as hard as they possibly could in a futile attempt not to be embarassed by the Lions on national TV. It's gonna be a fun year for Lions fans.

The Pats cut 2 former pro-bowlers, but other than that, no. Gage was a bit of a shock here, as was Haye, but they weren't anywhere near pro-bowl caliber.

the worst part of the football season for us this year - living in the Cinci metro market. i have hated the bungles since jr. high, always being more of a steelers / browns fan. but yet, the only early games i ever get on tv (OTA and Cable) are the bungles.

if i lived 30 minutes north, i could at least get an occasional Browns game.

meh.

maybe the ticket sales will be so abysmal that they will blackout and i can at least watch some bad old movies.

You seem to forget that when they played the Packers both times, the Pack was without several offensive and defensive starters (about 15 to be exact) and in the 2nd game, Rodgers got a concussion in the 2nd qtr I think it was and watched from the sidelines. But yea, you can have 2nd place! :)
