The NFL can't step in and pay a college student. Even suggesting such is flawed. It's not their issue nor should they get involved in that aspect. The colleges make millions off of student athletes, if anyone is to start a monetary stipend to play in collegiate sports it should come from them.
The players and coaches can always find employment elsewhere. It's always been thus. Goodell is taking an active hand, because frankly, it needs to be taken. The times have changed and the industry that is the NFL is a BILLION dollar company. He is doing the unthinkable in requiring them to behave as such.
I find it humorous that folks who work daily in a job that dictates what you wear, when you come and go and how you must act react so vehemently to Goodell when all he is doing is taking a standard corporate model and implementing it. I've worked 14 years in corporate upper management and recently 5 years in a non profit. You know what? The rules, are pretty stinkin' similar.
By the way Ohio banned him for 5 YEARS ... not games.
I'm guessing he's fine with making several 100k or more a year as opposed to working at Starbucks...
