NFL Week #15

Pack v. Pats

This one is pretty easy. Rogers may not start. Offense struggling. Pats hot and at home. Only way we take this is to shut down Brady which we can realistically do. But as I said in week #14, I think the Packers are toast. Not playing their best football and decimated, I mean absolutely decimated by injuries. Yes, time to make a big deal out of it. 10 starters on IR, 13 total on IR and looks like another possible 2 starter going to IR. It ain't going to happen this year with street free agents and 3rd string rooks.

We have a VERY tough and very important game coming up this week against the Giants on their turf. We had to really fight for that win against Dallas on Sunday so hopefully we can carry that same fight to New York. Close game, methinks. 27-24 Eagles.

The one thing I've learned about the Pats this year is their nearly endless capacity to surprise their fans. Last Sunday's game may have been the biggest surprise of all. A 36-7 beatdown of one of the NFL's best defenses, in a blizzard? However, I don't think there will be any surprises this coming Sunday.

TNF: San Francisco @ San Diego - I'm sick of the 49er's, Chargers

Kansas City @ St Louis - Wow, I have no idea .... Chiefs

Buffalo @ Miami - Dolphins

Cleveland @ Cincinnatti - Browns should be all over this one

Jacksonville @ Indianapolis - I've been having trouble with the Colts all year ... not 100% behind this, but I'll take the Jaguars by at least a TD

Houston @ Tennessee - Texans

Washington @ Dallas - Spite pick, just because the 'Boys couldn't put the Eagles away last week, Redskins

Philadelphia @ NYG - We're home for this one, so that might help a bit. Vick looked shaky at best last week, and the Giants D has really been clicking. If Manning can keep the ball in the hands of his own guys and stop with these stupid INT's the game should be tight but winnable. If he's tossing up floaters, the Eagles D is much too good to let him get away with that and the game can come crashing down, hard. Looking for a good offensive showing and continued strong D, Giants by 10

Arizona @ Carolina - :confused::atoz::ninja::rollno: Cards

Detroit @ Tampa Bay - This should be a good game to watch, the Bucs need it much more than the Lions

New Orleans @ Baltimore - Another great game that I have to find a way to watch. Both teams are very good, but neither is really playing at full tilt. Both need this game. The Saints are on a solid 6 game streak and chasing the Falcons, the Ravens have had a couple of problems but still need this to keep the Steelers in sight. Saints in a tight game

Atlanta @ Seattle - Falcons won't have to work too hard this week

NYJ @ Pittsburgh - The Jets have started the annual nose dive and this is a great time for the Steelers to have them on the schedule

Denver @ Oakland - Raiders

SNF: Green Bay @ New England - Pats

MNF: Chicago @ Minnesota - Bears

The Falcons are playing there third consecutive road game, and going aaaaaaalllllll the way across the country to play the third one.

I think we pull it off, but wouldn't be surprised to see the winning streak snapped.

Someone smarter than me can find the stat I heard yesterday about how exceedingly rare it is to go 2/3 in three consecutive road games. I am not sure that 3 for 3 has ever been accomplished.

On a separate note, I was looking at the NFC south as a whole last night.

We and NO have 3 games left - one of which is against each other. Now, if we both win out, and NO wins the Monday night game we will have:
1) Tied Records.
2) Split the head to head.
3) Tied Division Records.
4) Tied Conference Records.

I believe the next tie breaker is actually margin of victory. Crazy to go to a 5th tie breaking criteria.

I did a thread a while back on overused and trite sportsisms, if you will. At today's media conference with Packer's media BB was gushing overused sportsisms. Here's a sampling:

"[They’re] a very talented team that’s well coached, disciplined, very sound fundamentally and we’ll have to really have a good week of preparation here so we can get ready for them this weekend."

On Clay Matthews "Well, you know, Clay is fast, quick. He’s got real good balance. He’s a guy with a high motor"

Just thought is was funny. Haven't heard those lines before. :)

Chondro, I believe the next tie breaker is record against same teams. This is where Atlanta wins because they beat the Steelers but we beat the browns and cardinals. As long as we win in Seattle and against Carolina we will win 1st seed.

In a way I kinda don't want to beat New Orleans next week because if we meet them again in the playoffs it is nearly impossible to beat the same team three times in a season. Remember several years ago when the Giants won the superbowl? A very good Eagles team lost to an ok Giants team because the eagles had already tore up the Giants twice in the regular season. It's just not going to happen three times.

Trap game? After what happened against Cleveland, Brady has been on a mission. They are prepared and fired up. If the kind of killer instinct displayed by the last play of the first half against the Bears doesn't dispel any "trap game" notions, I don't know what will.

I thoroughly dislike the Ravens. I can not root for them, ever. That being said, this week I'm ambivalent. I don't want the Ravens to win, but I truly enjoy reading Gard's entirely unrealistic reasons why a game was "stolen" from "his" Saints. :smug:

Why don't you like the Ravens? Is it because they heartlessly killed a little birdie and plastered its face to the side of their helmets?
