On the other hand, one reason we do want to face and maul (again) the Jets is because of their coach. I have nothing against Sanchez (from what I read he is a good guy and does a great deal for the community), and always admired Jason Taylor (great dancer!).

Honestly, it is guys like L.T., Edwards, Holmes, Bart Scott and mostly - Rex; just can't shut up. It is easy to pound your chest and make all sorts of claims when you haven't done anything, shows more class to win and act like you have been there before.

I don't watch ESPN too much, but my friend Bryan (whose also a Jets fan) says that a lot of people don't like the smack talk that Rex does. But he also made a good point. "You want to portray that your team is great and can beat anyone they encounter, it does help motivate the team."

I usually subscribe to the theory of "talk s***, get bit." Because if you don't back up all that talk with a win, then it makes you look even worse. Another reason I subscribe to it is for a reason you mentioned, it's classier.

You're welcome. ;) As I said, I don't know any Pats fans other than you now , that have admitted that it's a possibility the Jets can beat them again. I'm also not lumping all Pats fans into the ignorant category, just the ones that refuse to accept the Jets might actually win this one.

Hey man, it's all good. This football thread on TB is all in fun anyways. It's not like you and I are actually suiting up and playing- we're just fans enjoying the game.
(I'm too old and lazy, not to mention no talent!).


I honestly didn't think Seattle had a chance to beat the Saints, but...

Gotta love football, in my opinion it is America's pastime and the playoffs are far more exciting than MLB, the NBA or even the NHL post season to me.

Or you could say, the Eagles got really lucky since James Jones dropped a touchdown at the end of the first half. It's silly pinning the loss on Akers. It would be no different than if he would have hit those two field goals, and I pinned the loss on Jones. The Packers outplayed the Eagles much of the game.

It's a team sport. Everyone is responsible for the win or loss, not just one person. If Philly's offense played better they'd have put up more points and not needed to rely on Ackers leg. Had the defense done a better job then Green Bay wouldn't have put up enough points to get the win.

I'm simply pointing out that the Pats have gotten better pretty much every week and keep winning. Can they lose? Of course they can. Only a fool or a NO fan would think it's impossible for their team to lose.
The Pats are currently favored by a touchdown for a reason, though, so predicting the Jets to win is an act of the heart, not the head.

This isn't necessarily true. Lines are set w/ popular perception in mind. Not what the experts actually think the final outcome will be. Vegas wants the betting public to be split as close to 50/50 as possible so they pay gambler A with gambler B's money and collect 100% of the vig. They are tricky that way.

Boy am I sorry I missed the Hawks/Saints game! Congrats to the Seahawks and coach Crimson Chin for the victory...cuz they ain't gettin much further.

I'm all for the Favreatar for Gard. You should do it, Gard; at least for a couple of weeks. You Creoles have a good sense of humor about yourselves, right? :D

I'm predicting a Raiders/9ers Super Bowl in 2012. Mark my words

Well, I'm not a Creole (definition), I'm just a pasty-faced white dude that grew up in the greater New Orleans area. I'm not even Cajun - I'm a mashup of German/Polish/Welsh/Seminole Indian! ;)

As for the "Farveatar" sense of humor or not, I won't have THAT turd as my "face" here for anything. I despise him, with justification, and have for more than two decades. :spit:

All I was pointing out is that there were a plethora of really bad calls in that game (some in both directions), and that it is becoming a bit of an epidemic in the NFL. Something needs to be done to correct it - I believe a combination of better training for the officials, actual accountability (i.e. FINES) for truly bad officiating, and the ability of a coach to challenge a call that he believes is a)wrong and b) worthy of a challenge because of how it could affect the outcome of a game - will be necessary to address the issue.

That, or, do away with ALL challenges.

Why should the official's inability to do their job correctly be any different than any other error they may make?

Oh, come on, I've known a few Creoles in my life. Gimme some credit, partner. But I thought you said that you were at some point on these threads....
