NFL Week #18 THE PLAYOFFS

Man, did I luck out. The gig I have this coming Saturday night is supposed to start at 9:00, but because it's a bar gig and the Packers are on at 7:00, the bar owner informed us we will not be required to start playing until after the game is over (same pay)!!!

Whoo-hoo! If the Pack wins we will be entertaining some people ready to PARTY!

I'm planning on a party ;). We played Atlanta close last time without a running game. Watch out for Starks. Close game but should be a win for the Packers!

Of course, there were plenty that went the other way too. And where was the coach's challenge on that coulda-been-a fumble?

Ya know what, at first I was wanting the Jets to win solely because I'm a Jets fan and wanted to see them go to the bowl. Now I want them to win, and would prefer them to win large, just to show the ignorant Patriots fans that they are indeed fallible, because I have not come across a single Pats fan, that is even willing to accept the possibility that they could lose to the Jets.

1) Saints punt in 1st quarter, Seahawks player blocked AWAY from punter, blocker releases him, Seahawks player then RUNS OVER PUNTER. Ref says "he was blocked into the punter"? :eek: Huh??? Change of possession call - should have been 15 yards and a Saints 1st down.

2) Seahawks receiver secures catch, both feet on ground, Saints player punches ball out, ref blows whistle and says "incomplete". Again - HUH? Yes, they forced the punt right afterward, but that should have been Saints ball inside the Seahawks 20, not Saints ball on the other side of the 50.

3) Marshawn Lynch's TD - absolutely earned by Lynch. Piss-poor tackling by the Saints (6 missed tackles? REALLY?!?! :spit: ). However, a Seahawks player put two full hands dead center between the numbers on the back of a Saints defender chasing down the play and shoved him to the ground.That is a textbook case of an illegal block in the back, and there is no way it was "hidden" - it ain't just me either, the commentators made a point of circling the foul and calling it out. Should have been a 10 yard penalty from the spot of the foul, not a score (however, I don't discount the effort by Lynch, he did indeed earn it).

Again, I'm not saying these cost the game, the fact is the Saints showed up and stunk the joint up, but they did indeed affect the outcome.

Kudos again to the Seahawks, and good luck against the Bears.

Um, unless the receiver makes a "football move" with the ball after the reception, it's still not technically a catch. I didn't see the play in question, but if he just caught the ball, then came down and landed, and as soon as he landed pretty much the ball gets punched out, it is an incomplete catch, not a fumble. You see it happen all the time.

you still have a world class team there, and who'd ever have thought that anyone would say that about the saints?

i foresee the saints being a dominant threat in the nfc for a long time to come.

As a Pats fan I was rooting for Indy Sat night. I think the Jets can win, but don't see it. It is a possibility- look at Seattle.

On the other hand, one reason we do want to face and maul (again) the Jets is because of their coach. I have nothing against Sanchez (from what I read he is a good guy and does a great deal for the community), and always admired Jason Taylor (great dancer!).

Honestly, it is guys like L.T., Edwards, Holmes, Bart Scott and mostly - Rex; just can't shut up. It is easy to pound your chest and make all sorts of claims when you haven't done anything, shows more class to win and act like you have been there before.

Also- thanks for calling us ignorant, we hear that a lot, especially during the last decade ;)

You make it sound like it should be a piece of cake to keep the Jets from getting in field goal range. I only meant that the Colts had the game in their hands and gave it away with **** poor defense and special teams play. Based on this, they didn't deserve to win. Same for the Saints - their defense basically didn't bother showing up, so they got beat. Like they say, that's why they play the games. :)

It was one hand and didn't even interrupt #96's momentum in any way. Looked more like a tap to me.

Nevertheless! Had there been a flag there, that almost would have been better for the Seahawks anyway. We had a 4 point lead. Had moved the ball all game, would still have been in or close to field goal range, and most importantly... Still had the ball and been able to run more time off of the clock. So in reality... I think the non call, though I would argue it should have been a non call anyway, helped the Saints more then hurt them and gave them plenty of time to catch up... If Garrent Heartly would have kicked the onside a little better...

As for the coaches challenge, he TRIED to challenge that call, the refs told him he couldn't. :rollno:

Yeah. And Brent Grimes really DID catch that interception at the end of the TB/ATL game...

Yeah, thanks man, it did sting. I'm really completely stunned at how BAD the Saints D played - just totally phoned it in.

...it's all correctable, if the NFL and the NFLPA will get their acts together and not 86 next season, that is...
