NFL Week #18 THE PLAYOFFS

C'mon Jon, that whole "they're not the same team" makes it sound like they started the season crappy then suddenly turned it around.

The Pats have been consistent all season. They beat the Bengals in game 1, then lost to the Jets in game 2. After game 2 they went on a 5 game tear. Lost to the Browns (a crappy team) in week 9, then won their last 8. Other than Moss not being there, it's pretty much the same team.

The biggest difference between the Patriots through the Brown's loss and all the games since then is that the first half of the season the defense let in an average of 23.5 points per game. After the Browns game they have averaged 15.6.

I don't know about you, but to me that is huge.

^ also the "minor"'detail that since the Browns beatdown, the Pats won every game- including beating some very good teams like the Steelers, Packers, Colts, Bears & Jets. In the 8 games since the Cleveland loss, none went to overtime or were even close in the last few minutes except for GB game. Can the same be said for the Jets since week 9? Umm,........uh..…no.

They don't have Moss, released Maroney (once main RB), acquired Woodhead and made him a starter, got Branch & made him a starter after 6 yr absence, lost Lee Boden (main db), lost Faulk (legendary NE 3rd down back) -so yeah, you're right same team basically :p

The Green Bay RB (Starks) that everyone saw today is just a glimpse of the stud we got to see in training camp. There's a reason he was placed on the PUP and not on IR even though he didn't surface until later this season.

We had a good enough offense with Rodgers & Co. Starks just opens up a whole 'nother level of whoop-ass. :D

Bring on the Falcons! We play better on turf (weird for a Packers team, but we are built for speed now).

Damned if I don't have a gig next Saturday night. But, thankfully I play in Wisconsin so the gig won't start until after the game! Hope it's a victory party.

I dunno about super bowl, but they played about as I expected today. The Packers showed up on defense and contained Vick enough that they didn't have to score a mountain of points to keep up.

I was pleased to get a double dose of Manning face during the Jets victory too. One at the timeout, and another after the loss. I like the guy and all, but it gets old with how much the announcers seem to favor him above all other QB's. One announcer even made the comment "I wonder what would have happened if Coach Caldwell would have listened to Peyton and not called the timeout?" As if Peyton knew that the Jets would immediately get into FG range following play.

For the pure love of the rivalry (as a Bears fan) I'm hoping that the Bears beat the Seahawks (obviously) and that the Pack get their revenge on Atlanta. That way it become the NFC Championship Bears vs. Pack at Soldier field. No one can deny that that would be nothing short of epic! (Rooting for Chicago of course if that happens :D)

That would be the absolute best NFC Championship ever!

To have the Packers win the Halas trophy by beating the Bears ;) and then bringing home the Lombardi trophy?

POOOOOPPP!!!!!!!

Of course I'm THRILLED with the Packer win, but of the 4 available time slots for the Packer/Atlanta game, the only one that shuts me out of watching is the one they got! Late Saturday game. I have a gig of EPIC lameness.....a January Christmas Party for some bank, that's going to be about as much fun as putting my bag in a vice. Now it's going to be even worse knowing I'm missing the game to do it.

In other words, the Pats have 19 of the 22 starters that they had in the first game, plus a different third-down back.:D

I understand, they're playing better. But the starting lineup probably hasn't changed more than the average NFL team.:)
