NFL Week #19

The Saints have INSTITUTIONAL memory of Warner, they used to play him twice a year. They KNOW him. They used to regularly rough him up and make him look BAD.

the saints have an institutional memory of warner.. or you (the fans) have an institutional memory? you speak of the saints as if they are some sort of collective hive mind, but is there even a single person on the entire saints staff that was with the team between 1999 and 2001? i'm doubtful.

i found your "regularly rough him up" statement equally dubious. scores and warner's stats from NO vs STL games (STL scores in blue) from '99 to '01:

1999
NO 12 @ STL 43 (213yds 2tds 0ints 2sk)
STL 30 @ NO 14 (346yds 2tds 1ing 1sk)
2000
STL 26 @ NO 21 (133yds 1td 1int 2sk)
STL 28 @ NO 31 (365yds 3tds 3int 2sk) (this was a playoff game)
2001
NO 34 @ STL 31 (385yds 1td 4int 2sk)
STL 34 @ NO 21 (338yds 4td 0int 4sk)

so it looks like there were two games out of 6 where you "roughed him up" ;) and the saints defense never prevented the rams from scoring less than 4 times(although you did get to bounce him from the playoffs)

naturally, all of that, along with your original point is totally irrelvant because it all happened a decade ago with a completely different team. we might as well be talking about how sean payton's great great grandpa once beat up kurt warner's great great grandpa. on a regular basis.

League reviews video of pack/cards game, notice that Fitzgerald and warner are taking rips out of a crack pipe.

They then reverse sundays game results and the pack goes to nola and beats ass.

Controversy over Woodson winning defensive player of the year over the Jets' Revis. Both were deserving, but Rex Ryan takes the sore loser approach [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

And in response to Wrex & Co.:

Just as appropriate. ;)

FWIW, Revis is an amazing player, but the Jets D was monstrous in a lot of ways, I think that Woodson WAS the single most valuable defensive player, because he was that much better than any other Packer defender, which is the entire POINT of the MVP award.

sticking up for his players in the middle of the playoffs and stating facts is taking the sore loser approach especially on something he didnt have a say in?

News to me...

Revis more than deserved the award, but oh well, hes only going to further prove it this weekend against SD

Colts haven't played in almost a month. Ravens give 'em the business, but lose.
Can Favre beat the Cowboys in the playoffs? Hmmmm.
Jets have to play in warm weather, sexy Rexy has a meltdown.
Over under in the Cards/Saints game is 130. Saints win, 16 - 10.

It was a horse race. Could have easily gone to Revis who had a great year. Each had better numbers in different categories. Both teams made playoffs. Ryan's quotes came off as sore loser to me. Call it what you will...sticking up for player, sore loser. Whatever.

So yeah, Saints over Cards, by 2 scores.

I can't believe I'm going to say this. I think you're right on this one. I don't think it'll be by 2 scores though. If the Cards D is as crappy as it was against the Pack then it could be a lot more.

Other predictions
Colts over Ravens
Vikes over Cowpokes

I think the Jets will upset the Bolts though. The Chargers offense is good but the Jets have the best rushing attack in the league, their WR Corps has been playing well and Sanchez is also doing great. The Jets are also very underrated and I think that plays to their advantage. The Jets also have the best defense in the league, so if their D shows up to play with all the tenacity they have, then I can see them winning this one. If the defense doesn't show then it'll be a loss for the Jets. I know the Bolts are on an 11 game streak but that could mean 2 things. 1. The time off could have killed their momentum a bit and 2. They're due for a loss.

I really hope it comes down to the Jets/Saints because that offense of NOLA will get shut down. I'm not saying the Jets will pull off the win but, the Saints will not run amuck on them either like they have other teams they played. If you disagree that's fine but remember even Tampa beat you guys this season. :p;):D

what like they got shut down in week 4? :rollno:

even if the jets somehow pull out the upset in whale vagina there is nooo way they'll be able to beat the ravens, or (what would have to be) a reheated colts team.

I expect the Jets defense to show up. To be honest, I'm not that concerned with the Jets rushing attack. I really feel like the game is going to come down to how many times Sanchez has to pass and which Sanchez decides to show up.

Yes, Sanchez was great against the Bengals in the Wild Card round, but his great performances have been few and far between. The key to the Jets winning is staying ahead. If they fall behind and need to start passing, the Jets could be in trouble. Sanchez's QB rating in the Jets 7 losses was 52.7.

I don't expect any sort of blowout by either side. I do think the number of offensive weapons that the Chargers can put on the field will lead to some match up issues for the Jets. Yes, Revis is one of the best CBs in the game and has shut down several elite WRs this season. He may very well shutdown Jackson on Sunday. The Jets will also have to shut down Floyd, Gates, Tomlinson and Sproles in the primary passing attack and Naanee (and sometimes even Tolbert) depending on the situation. I don't intend this as a knock on the Jets, I just think it will be interesting to see how they handle a QB that tends to play as if he doesn't have a number 1 receiver.

These are reasons why I think the Jets need to be able to control the ball and use that #1 rushing offense to it's fullest potential.

I know SD's QB and and WR Corps have better numbers on paper but the one offense stat that especially caught my eye was each teams total yards per game. SD had 360 and the Jets had 321. 30 yds isn't much at all and why I think the Jets defense would be the key to their victory.

Their D only gave up 252.3 yds per game compared to SD's 326.9. They also only allowed 153.7 Pass Yds to SD's 209.3 So I'm thinking if the Jets D line can get penetration and hurry, sack, and knock down Rivers it will make those offense threats on the Charges a little less dangerous. Not to mention it'll help keep SD's offense off the field.

In the back of my mind, I still question the Jets defensive numbers. Yes, Revis shut down Randy Moss in week 11 (and shut down a lot of the league's elite throughout the season), but Wes Welker still put up 192 yds receiving (Brady had 299 total). I also can't help but wonder how much of NYJ's stat lines benefit from playing the Bills and Dolphins twice and having the Bucs and Carolina on their schedule as well. Meanwhile, Payton Manning put up 192 yards of passing in a little over 3 quarters.
