NFL Week #19

Jags aren't leaving Jax. More likely to be the Rams.

Weaver will have to do SOMETHING, because the fan base in Jax is SUCKING.

If he doesn't have enough of a fan base to make the team at least a break-even proposition, they're leaving for SOMEWHERE.

Mind you, I don't dislike the team, I'm just looking at the situation as dispassionately as I can. It's a business, and it's bleeding revenue right now because the fans don't show up on Sunday. That can only continue for so long before something has to give.

:hmm:

I'll be happy for either the Saints or the Vikings. Probably a slight lean to the Saints since I remember them from days gone by......Rickey, Sam (RIP my friend), Bobby, Swilling, and so on.

I thought it was way cool for them to resign Deuce, but they better do something to acknowledge the guys I mentioned if they make it to the SB.

Plus....it will be really cool to welcome Gard to the SB Winners Club. :)

Thanks for remembering the Dome Patrol, especially my all-time favorite Saint, Sam Mills. :) Great PERSON as well as one of the most amazing LB's in history (5'11" 210 lbs??? You can't play linebacker in the NFL! ;) )

The Deuce move, pure class, and a genuine good move on several levels for the team and fans. He is a good motivator, and is my second favorite all-time Saint, a real class act of a person, in addition to being the best RB they ever had. Got the fans pumped, got the team pumped, and by golly, they may actually activate him for the game next week - he says he's ready to go! - and they could use him as a FB if nothing else.

I am fully intending to join your little club, but more importantly the SAINTS PLAYERS are. ;)

Gonna be one whale of a game Sunday evening! :hyper:

A guy can't dream, can't he.:D

I think we ALL know that I totally understand that feeling, don't we? :D

Now, we'll be working on doing all you Packer backers a favor this coming weekend:

Sending Brent FAR-VUH off to his retirement.

:hyper:

I know anything is possible, but I just don't see the Jets getting past the Colts. Don't sleep on the Colts D, they shut down a Ravens team that absolutely destroyed the Pats a week earlier.

On top of all that, you've got to out-score Peyton Manning. You're only hope is getting a decent lead quickly and running the clock out. The game is finished if you get behind early to the Colts. If you're hoping that Sanchez will magically turn into Namath, you're in for a rude surprise when the Colts D comes down on him hard and fast.

Lets get this out of the way: I'm a Chicago native and die-hard Bears Fan. Always have been, always will be. Period.

With that said, I went to college in Louisiana and have a very soft spot in my heart for the city of New Orleans. I have a ton of very dear friends there and have spent many a day/night in The Crescent City. (Heck, I've performed in the Superdome many times). Oh BTW, I hate the Vikings.

I will be pulling for the Saints next week. I think a SB appearance would be great for the City ... especially after Katrina. But I have to admit, the Vikes are tough this year. Like it or not, Favre is the read deal. I'm worried that the Saints defense won't be able to hang.

It ought to be a great game!

The Vikes better be worried about how THEIR defense matches up against Brees, Colston, Meacham, Henderson, Moore, Bush, et al.

They have a very suspect set of DB's right now, and they could be the ones being torched.

As for Brent FAR-VUH, he's just about due for one of his patented 3-4 INT games, and with the DBs the Saints have, he'd better be ON, or it's ON. +11 turnover ratio folks, and the Saints D is back to being what they were in Sept/Oct right now....

It ought to be a great game!

I agree! :hyper:

Big ups to the winners this weekend. Everybody held serve except the Bolts (jeez, nice job guys...:hmm:)

I'm truly grumpy this morning. That was a truly feminine performance by the Cowboy off. and def. lines. Just awful..... There are several guys cashing Jerry's checks that should have a hard time looking into a mirror for a few days.

One thing that drives me crazy is how completely predictable the Cowboy fan is. Local sport-talk stations are filled with people crying about the last touchdown Brent threw. We will eventually get around to talking about how the Vikings handled our interior lines, but for now we're gonna cry about a "running up the score" TD (For those that don't know, the Vikes threw a TD pass on 4th down with 2 minutes left. They were up by 24 points at the time).

My thought is, if you don't like it, stop 'em. Keith Brooking pitched a huge fit about it at the time and continued squawking about it in the locker room after the game. While I disagree with him, I'm also ready to give him a "heat of the moment" pass. He's been a standup guy this year; he's OK with me..... I do think that kind of late game play opens the door for the Karma Police to punish you. That may come this weekend; it may come next year when these teams play again. But it's no big deal.....

But, after having a day to ponder it, I say....... Good year. Not great, good year. Romo won some big, big, games. They showed they have some talent. They also have more work to do to get where they want to be. In the meantime,....

paging Mr. Gard..... Mr. Gard? Are you out there, son? I have a respectful request...... Are there any seats available on the bandwagon? or is it standing room only? Are there any specific things I need to know? Rules of conduct? I think I have the spelling thing figured out........ you spell anything ending in "o" like this... "eaux". You say "Who dat?" a lot. Is there anything else?

Thanks in advance....

2009 Pats != 2005-2008 Pats

I agree with the above. While I hate taunting, scoring is part off the game and what they get paid to do, no matter how much time is on the clock. Both teams have a job. Show up and put as many points on the board as you can and hope it's enough when time runs out. As for the complaining about it post game (even Phillips commented on it), did they let off the gas in the game versus the Eagles?

Props to the 'boys, they were better than I expected this year. Good on you for taking that shallacking yesterday like a man.

However, I do think that last TD was pretty pointless, and a bit classless of the Vikes. Remember the end of the Saints/Cowboys game in '06? That's how you end a game with class, showing respect to the opponent and letting them have a bit of dignity in the face of an overwhelming defeat.

Plenty of room, since all of the PUNDITS have already begun to crown Brent FAR-VUH and the Barneys, I'm sure most of the football sheeple will be jumping on the purple bandwagon. May be standing room only on the black & gold bandwagon, but you're welcome to join in on the party - which after the game is over and they're on the way to Miami will be the party to end all parties! ;)

Rules? This is NEW ORLEANS BOY! :D We don't need no stinkin' rules, just have fun and do no harm!!! :hyper:

As for spelling, hell, we don't have a clue...oh...o...eaux...all the same man! :)

The WHO DAT!!! is mandatory though, start practicing now...

:D

Valid point, but they gotta be a little tired after such a physical game, and then going into another more physical game against the #1 rushing offense and the longest standing O-line (w/4 outta 5 being 1st round picks, and 2 of 'em being pro-bowlers).. not to mention Tony "the X factor, any RB behind me is in for a 1,000 yd season" Richardson.

He's already on his way to becoming another Namath based on his TD/INT ratio.
:hiding:

The key to beating the Colts is usually keeping Manning off the field, and I don't think any team in the league is better poised to do that. Teams have been stacking 8+ in the box against us all year, and we still out-rushed every NFL team out there, even w/o our most explosive RB on the field. One of our RB's is a rookie too.

I dunno if the Jets WILL do it (that all depends on the execution in ALL phases, and ST needs to get back to the level of play where they once were. I know Abraham Elam is gone, but Wright and Ihedghebo are still there and need to be on their A game to help us win the field position battle) but I know they absolutely CAN do it.

Congrats on the Ravens win, but this is a different team. Similar to the Ravens, but w/an element of "WTH are they doing now?!?!" on BOTH SIDES of the ball added in for good measure. We've got 2 things the Ravens don't... Revis Island, and Mini-Schotty. That opens up to us a whole different playbook. (Oh and don't forget Brad Smith on the option either)

S'ok tho... keep looking past the Jets and counting them out, it's worked out well for Cincy & SD fans so far.
