NFL Week #3

I haven't seen a single clip from the Steelers game today, but it sounds like our offensive line failed to make it to the stadium. I read something like eight sacks. I guess the Philly D showed up with something to prove today. I'm not going to lie, this really bums me out. I'll be grouchy for a few days after this one.

But it isn't the end of the season, no need to push the panic button in Pittsburgh. I'm mostly interested at this point in seeing how Tomlin turns this around. We got the Ravens coming up, and they like to get after the QB as well. Tomlin and his coaches have their work cut out for them.

Can someone explain to me why the Raiders just let Buffalo run the clock down and then kick a field goal to win the game with 3 seconds left when they could have easily used their 2 remaining timeouts and maybe saved 20-30 seconds, and given themselves an opportunity to score?

Harris was only out for a few plays that game, as far as I can tell. Maybe I saw wrong.

A dubbya's a dubbya though, I guess.

3-0

Harris was out most of the game. Bigby was out the entire game. Injuries ARE part of the game and every team has them, so no excuses here. The Cowboys took advantage of inexperienced subs (Aaron Rouse, and several corners..Williams, etc.), which is exactly what every team tries to do.

The Giants were sleep walking through that game .... they were lucky to get out of there with a win. Cincy played very well and it was pretty clear they were pumped up to kick the Giants butt. Manning looked terrible through the 1st three quarters, the running game was weak, defense was just okay but not dominating. Glad we have a bye week coming up ... :hmm:

Exactly what I feared would happen with the Steelers did happen .... the O-line got beat in every possible way by the Eagles. This is going to be the major stumbling block this year for Pittsburgh. Too many teams will be keying in on the pass rush and blitz, Tomlin & Co need to figure out a way to get that line shored up .... :atoz:

Let's see what the Jets bring tonight ......

Cowboys are the team to beat in the NFC it's looking like. I thought in general the Packers D played pretty well but gave up big plays.

Packers couldn't get a touchdown in the redzone but once.

Dallas's D surprised me. They're damn good. Shame on the Packer D for getting burned twice on the nice running play where all the blocking goes right and the running back takes the large open space to the left. Totally took our speedy linebackers out of the play both times. Well-designed play that fooled the Packers twice. "Fool me once, shame on..." Whatever.

Rodgers held his own. He has Dallas defenders in his face all night.

Yeah, Rodgers was the biggest surprise of the night for me. We we're trying our darndest to pressure him all night and he stayed cool. The kid needs to work on his scrambling though, he learned from the best and there were a couple "scrambles" that even the Packers fans in my house were upset about.

We've got the skins at home next week, should be another bloodbath rivalry game but since we're on a roll and it's at home, I think Dallas should come out 4-0. I'm more surprised that Miles Austin burned you twice for a huge gain/TD!

Yeah, I think the speed of Felix Jones surprised the the D. I think once he puts a little more muscle on him, he will be able to run the 3rd quarter and let Barber get some rest so he can finish the game. Barber also had some nice catches, the guy is just a beast.

I still can't believe Romo threw another Red Zone pick, he had no business throwing that ball. Jason Garrett really needs to work with him on that, I am glad we have enough weapons to did back out of turn overs.

I think TO will have a better game against the Scab Skins, without a doubt Woodson is one of the best cover guys in the league and when you get help from a safety it is hard to catch a ball. I think Green Bay is still trying to figure out who is Miles Austin. I am sure they didn't watch much film on him.

It was actually 9 sacks. They better get that O line fixed or it will be a long year for Big Ben.

If it is possible to feel good about a loss (...checking...nope, it isn't...:( ) the Saints losing yesterday as they did in Denver would be the one to feel that way about.

Spotted the Ponies a 21-3 lead, then roared back to almost pull a win out with a last second field goal (...dammit, why can't he be Automatica Grammatica NOW? :spit: ).

Man, that was an edge-of-the-seat second half!

And Serg, you're smokin' crack if you think the 49ers will win this week, you haven't see them beat a genuine football team yet...and they won't next week.

Man, did the Patriots play BAAAAAD...I haven't seen them play that bad in a long time. Since pre-season this year...lol
Could be a long season for us Pats fans. It was pretty sucky seeing the fans doing a mass exodus in the 4th quarter. It wasn't just Cassel, either. The whole team tanked. As much as I hate the Dolphins, I have to admit that they really stuck it to the Pats. Awesome offensive schemes....Made Belichik and company look like a high school team. I guess I should be glad that hockey season starts pretty soon...lol :help: )-(

Ah, another stolen player from Dallas to go with the stolen coaches. Hey, the Saints need to lose 4 or 5 games before they warm up.

preseason doesn't count. I dont remember seeing them play as bad since the bills blew us out i think it was 03/04 1st game of the season.
but still
:bawl: I dont like our bye week being so early in the season this is going to hurt us more than help.

Well, I'm going to start a new ritual, the Monday Morning Review of my picks and comments...so here goes:

Uh...bad plays bad...toss a coin...homefield advantage, maybe??? Ugh...Atlanta. Barely.

Whoops...I was right...kinda...man, it's amazing how good a really bad defense can make a decent offense look, isn't it?

Absolutely agreed on all points. Particularly about Al Davis being an idiot.

Yup. No surprise, they gave away a victory at the last second. Does Davis blame Kiffin and fire him? Who cares...

Yes, Chicago will be pissed at themselves after their poor showing in the 2nd half last week at Carolina, and take it out on the Yucks. Chicago by 7, say 17-10.

Jive, your team is SUCKING here buddy. No excuse for this loss.

I think the Vikes get a little "bounce" from Frerotte coming in, their run defense is solid, and their pass defense is OK. If they can get pressure on Delhomme and Peterson plays, Vikes win by 3.

Yup. I was almost dead on, I figured the pass rush would rattle Delhomme, and it did.

Yeah, one more "W" for the pseudo-Pats. One more week listening to how they're still going to beat the world, even without Brady. How long until they play a decent opponent? Closer than Patsie fans will like, NE by a TD.

Ouch. Man, the wheels came off yesterday. Can't blame this loss on the offense, the defense looked pathetic out there! I believe that if they don't do something to right the ship, not only will the Patsies not win the Super Bowl, they may not make the post season, if the defense doesn't improve a LOT.

How bad can Cincy be? Very bad. Maybe even Lions bad. Giants by double digits.

Missed that pick a bit, but was "right" anyhow.

Yeah...nothing to add. Tennessee by 10.

Nailed it.

I still say that the Washington win was more of a Saints loss. Arizona by 10, 'Skins come back to earth. Hard.

Maybe the 'Skins are OK??? Hmm...

I do not feel good about my team right now. I worry that THEY don't feel good about themselves.

If they feel good about themselves, shootout, Saints eke out a 3 point win.

If they don't, ugh...Denver by 14.

Damn, so freakin' close, but an L is an L. We're only one game back in the division, and we get home & home with three of the teams to go, plus already a win against the Yucks. We're not doing "great", but it's early, we get some horses back soon, and we should still win the division, IMO.

Yeah...but even a blind squirrel occasionally gets his nut...upset special, in a who gives a **** win, Lions by 6

...whoops. :hmm: That is the last game I pick the Lions to win. I officially will predict the Lions record at the end of the season here and now:

0-16

:spit:

"Who gives a **** win", part deux....well, who cares? It's in Seattle...Seattle wins.

Yeah...man, the St. Louis defense is REALLY BAD. I could smell them all the way in North Carolina, they are so stinky.

...er...uh...home team....I think?

...but, uh...yeah, Baltimore.

Yup.

Tough call here...I'm going against Adam, Indy at home, squeaker, 3 point game.

Wow...man...who would have picked Indy to be 1-2 at this point in the season? Not me.

Very good game indeed! Strength (Philly offense) against strength (Pitt defense), cross-state rivalry....nod to the home team again, close game though, Philly by 6.

Man, I was right, but wrong again...the Philly defense was on fire yesterday. Has Ben figured out the number of the bus he got ran over by....8 times...yet???

Tough call, close game, nod to the home team yet again. GB by 4.

Crap.

Yeah, Dallas appears to be that good so far. :spit:

It's early, things can still fall apart for them, and I can still hope for it every week, which I will! ;)

San Diego shakes off the cobwebs, buries the Jets, by 14.

Looking forward to this game, hoping to be wrong, actually...will check in tomorrow for this one...

So far, not so hot 8 and 7 straight up, should end up 9-7 if I'm right about tonight, so at least a "winning record" this week.

What makes it even worse is that the Ravens are 2 and 0.
And the Ravens have the #1 D. Ben's effed at this rate!!!

Exactly what I feared would happen with the Steelers did happen .... the O-line got beat in every possible way by the Eagles. This is going to be the major stumbling block this year for Pittsburgh. Good call, Ed... Ya bastige!! :atoz:

Wow, a Pats fan from the South Side of Chicago...awesome.
It's still early in the season, but there are some real holes in the secondary. The Dolphins recievers were wide open over the middle ALL DAY. With Cassel being the QB now, we won't be able to win those shoot-out games like we could with Tom Brady so if the defence can't step up and keep us in the games, we'll be lucky to make the play-offs at all. Just sayin'... :scowl: )-(

OK....freaky fact of the day....you know how Ronnie Brown accounted for five TD's yesterday? The last time that was done was on Oct. 7, 1923 by Paddy Driscoll from the Chicago Cardinals.

Here is the freaky part.......Oct. 7, 1923 was the last regular season game played in Yankee Stadium that year. Yesterday was also the last regular season game played in Yankee Stadium for this year.
