NFL Week #5

not sure if its been mentioned, but speaking of jerseys, holy crap! denver? the graphic designer mustve accidentally taken a dump on the design and then proceed to spill mustard all over the place. some of the throwbacks are pretty cool though.
am i the only one that thinks that denver's throwbacks were cool? especially the socks!
and i wish the pats would switch to a new uni that was more like their throwbacks.. i'm so sick of silver and dark blue... so drab

well at least they're not alone in that camp anymore.. i guess it's a plus that the pats held it together offensively for 2 quarters?
Good game last night. I was kind of pulling for the Jets, but don't feel too bad that the 'phins came back and won it because the interference penalty on the DB covering Edwards on the last drive was a bad call. All in all, it was a great game.
Yeah, that call may have been close, but that late in the 4th in such a close game, let them play, sheesh! That was a 49-yard penalty that put them at the goal line!
That shouldn't be allowed unless it's blatant. The zebras did their best to hand NY the game with that call. It's solely because of that call that I'm glad Miami won. Prior to the call, I couldn't have cared less who racked up the W. 
I dunno, I'm kinda sick of all the fancy pants new school jersies like the Jags, Dolphins, Panthers, Titans, etc wear.
I love the old school feel of some of the throwbacks:
Denver, NYJ (Titans), Dallas Cowboys AND Texans, Love the middle school Oilers Jersies, the powder blue helmets take it a bit too far back. Love the Pats throwbacks, but hate the logo. Like the Bucs throwbacks, hate the logo - though I love their 'new' colors and logo.
Grantedm they are a bit dated and simplistic, but I love the idea of having throwbacks or special alt uniforms for certain things, like historic rivalries, or division rivalries, etc. For example, i love Houston's Battle Red whent hey play the Jags. I'd totally dig it if both Houson and Jax both went to alts specifically for those games.
I also like it when there are multiple versions of the same uniform, just swapping around the main colors of the team, like Seattle, Tennessee, Miami, and a couple others do.
But, I hate all black, like the Jags of the past several years. Their black pants with the Jag head made them look like bellerinas - they shoulda kept the teal stripe with white piping.
I dunno, i kind of like the fact that the Steelers really have nothing substantial TO throw back to. It's indicative of their philosophy as a club I think. 
45-19 heading into week 5, and no Saints this week. Sigh.

Is Baltimore's D of the Century finally showing its age? And stupid play by Ray Lewis, well..not really surprising, he's kinda a thug, and really showed it on that one. -1Oakland @ NY Giants: Wow, who gave the Giants this schedule? Tampa, KC, and Oakland all in a row?

Dall@$$ is above .500 for now, but it won't last. They're very uneven, and in a tough NFC East that will be a BAD THING. Letting an 0-4 Chiefs team push them into OT, a VERY BAD THING for the future in Jerry's World. +1Carolina fans, don't get too excited, the 'Skins are almost as hopeless as TB or St. L., this shouldn't have been a 3-point game, but it was. I'm DONE with Jax. They suck. Loud. Only way I'm picking these clods to win again is if/when they play Tampa/St. Louis/Washington, or someone of that ilk, and it will be close if/when they do. They are uneven as it gets. -1
The Titans are beginning to look THAT bad. Wow. When do the Colts start to actually play NFL football teams? I'm interested to see if their success against college and high school teams translates into anything in the NFL.

8-8 is actually very impressive considering that there were only 14 games played in the NFL this past weekend.

No I'm with you. I digged the Denver's throwback Jersey.
In addition, I would like to add that it's a great day in Miami. There's nothing better then having bragging rights...especially when Espn, ex-NFL coaches, Rex Ryan, and the majority of the country bets against you so strongly...there's bound to be some excitement in the air. GO FINS!!!! Jets Jets Jets Cry Cry Cry!
So.... next week then.
I have no idea what happened on Sunday, the Jags didn't play this week.
But couple things to point out:
1) Jags do not suck. We have a very good quarterback, a very good running back and a decent developmental back, a good TE with WR experience, a good, HOF lock receiver who makes last year's experiments with Jerry Porter look foolish, and a nice developmental receiver corps which will eventually become an elite corps, changing Jax from a traditional Steeler-esque run/stop run team to a gunslinging team. Not really sure how that'll work out with Garrard, but you saw how he played the Pats in the Playoffs a couple years ago.
2) The Jags have a couple of glaring weaknesses which prevent their awesome bits from poking out. Both lines are weak. O-Line is young and inexperienced, outside of Meester and one or two other veterans. Their protection is lacking, and that keeps Dave and Mojo from making plays. The D-Line is also weak. Derek Harvey was a bust, and the secondary has ONE pro-bowler in Rasheen Mathis, but even he makes mistakes here and again. I think this week he just let Housh get in his head.
3) The Jags don't have several defensive players who helped keep the D powerful any more. Stroud is long gone, think he's still in Buffalo. Durant is on IR. Henderson, no idea what happened to him, Peterson either. The offensive players of old are all gone too. Our best hands receiver was cut in the off season, think he's in jail on crack charges right now. Out leading rusher is now a Patriot, and was recently hurt. Again. And now he's going in for season ending surgery, I do believe.
4) The Jags also have traditionally played to the level of their competition. For some odd reason, they fight like hell against powerhouses, and roll over against pushovers (RE: The AFC South). The fact that the Seahawks blew them out on sunday is just an indicator of exactly how much THAT team sucks.
5) One loss doesn't mean that the Jags are done. While it does feel suspiciously like last year, the Jags can still go 13-3 on the season.

well there's a very important and huge chunk of their defense that is missing this year... weighs about 350lbs... and it's not bart scott and jim leonhard..

Losing by 41, scoring no points, and to a team with a losing record in the weakest division in pro football = suck
No good line play = losing games by the fist full (speaking from experience here)
If you can't get pressure on D, QB's will eat you up; if you can't block/pass protect on O, you can't score and you end up punting a lot.
No good O & D line = losing season time
Guys that aren't on your team any longer AREN'T ON YOUR TEAM. What was isn't what is, etc, etc, etc.
I know all about the IR list for a team, it's been a huge issue in NOLA the past two seasons. Great teams win with who is on the active roster, no matter what.

I'm really bummed at the fan "support" right now as well, this does not bode well for their future in Jax.
