NFL Week #5

Not time to "grade" myself yet - still one game to go! - but a couple comments maybe:

Broncos - For real. Sandy Eggo better be ready next week.

Cowpatties - Really? OT against an 0-4 team that can't find its butt with both hands? Get ready for a LONG season Dall@$$ fans.

Raiders - What's that smell from the East Bay?

Tampa - I know what the smell from Tampa Bay is.

Washington - Zornwatch has begun.

Titans - Wow...:eek:...just...wow...

Jax - ....man, I'm done with them, they are so uneven there isn't even a word that really covers it.

I'm thinking that it's more likely that you should be giving credit to the poor tackling by the Chiefs' defense.

That was ugly, no "good" team should have even been threatened by the Chiefs at this point, and getting taken to OT...

I never said the entire team was "good" or mistake free, far from it. I still lay it on Coaching more than execution. Yes it was ugly, BUT yes I do give a lot of credit to Miles. He ripped a pass away from a defender on a jump ball........


And besides the Chiefs may have had poor tackling, but he only broke one or two tackles at most per play. You can't tackle what you can't catch:hyper:

For a first start he did a helluva job;)

I just noticed Fox Sports Southwest airs Cowboys Gameday with Nate Newton. Believe me the majority of Dallas' fans weren't impressed by much other than Austin.

BTW Fox Sports airs local commercials during that broadcast. Damned if two of my favorite local fast food joints didn't have commercials:scowl:

Can somebody please send me a double Whataburger with cheese and Jalapenos.:bawl: Or Some Taco Bueno.:bawl:

(you know the local mexican food sucks when you long for Taco Bueno).:D

hey guys

let's tone down the smacktalk. i'd hate to have to start moderating these threads, but stuff is flying here that would be infracted elsewhere.

remember, mutual respect is the number one rule here at talkbass. that means respectfully discussing, and disagreeing.

slagging a team is fine - that's what they're there for. slagging a team's fans - that's borderline. every team in the league is undoubtedly represented here at talkbass, so you're going to be upsetting someone.

slagging -each other- is not fine, under any circumstances. i'm -sure- we can talk about football without that crap.

Poor Tampa and I gave them my upset of the week seal of approval, but 3 ints isnt gonna help.

0-5 Titans .. no upset here either folks. Colts look tough.

I guess Cincy is the real deal, Ravens + Penalties = another loss.
Browns won a game... woooaah.

Steelers won a road game this year finally! Another pick 6 for Ben:scowl:

Will Broncos be undeafted when The Steelers come into thier stadium for week 9?

I'm sorry if I offended you, but the events of the past few weeks of being around unruly individuals have really put a certain teams fans in a bad light for me. It was also the fact that you drug my being a fan of a certain team into a bad light that set me off.

Again, I'm sorry to you and all the Broncos fans that I might have made angry.

Please move this to PM if you have anything else to say as I have spammed this thread enough.

The Saints will go 2-0 against the Foulclowns this year.

Even after their "big game" this weekend, the Foulclowns offense is #13 in the league. Nice, but not #3 (and that's after a week off). Oh, and defense, the Turkeys are ranked #20, a nice jump from the #30 they were the week before, but it ain't #7 (again, with a week off, we go UP)

Yeah, I'm REALLY threatened.

I'm not threatened, I just can't stand the Foulclowns for a multitude of reasons, and am looking forward to them getting trounced every possible opportunity.

Before the season started eveyone was already calling them playoff contenders. I wasn't but the media sure was.

BC, I agree. That was something I was yelling at the TV most of the game "put Choice in":D Barber was clearly still sore and didn't have his usual burst.

considering they were the aints' nemisis even on their bad years, i can understand that.

i'm just glad that those poor, long-suffering saints fans finally have a dream season to enjoy. as a steelers fan since i was 7 years old ('75) i can tell you how fantastic they are. :). of course, i've had 6 to experience, but that's ok - ray kurzweil says the singularity is coming, where folks will outlive technological advancements required to further preserve their life. that'll give the saints fans a chance to experience 5 more seasons like this one is shaping up to be.

True, the media had the Cowpokes picked for a SB run. :rollno: I had 'em picked for under .500. I think I'm closer than the media pukes.

I dunno, the Jets are a pretty decent team, and Miami will have a tough time against them. They'll be stacking 8 in the box all day, daring Henne to try and go over the top on them. With Darrell Revis back there, they can do that. If they're successful, and shut the run down, I don't see Miami winning it.

It is all supposed to be fun, heck, I am even playing with the Foulclown and Cowpukes fans - I detest the teams, but I love the fans. :)

...speaking of harassing:

Kelly, I'm waiting to see the Colts stop playing preseason football, when do they play an actual NFL regular season game? ;) The combined record of the Colts opponents is what...7-16?

...let me help you out here, hoss, since I'm a pretty big Steelers fan as well.

The Steelers first played in the NFL in 1933, so they're as old school as it gets - one of the original 10 teams, of which only 5 are still playing.

They won their first division title in 1972, 39 years after they started playing. The New Orleans Saints did that in 1991, 24 years, some 15 years FASTER than the Steelers did so. The Steelers then made it to the AFC Championship game, which they lost in 1972. This the Saints did in exactly the same amount of time the Steelers did.

They won their first Super Bowl in 1973, so they did do that a bit sooner in their history.

However, you should be careful about tossing all your history at me, as I am a Steelers fan too, and was BEFORE they had such a storied run of winning in the 70's, heck I was a Steelers fan before there was a Saints team to be a fan of! My mother was born a stone's throw from Pittsburgh, my grandfather played football for Pitt, I have a history with the Steelers that goes back to before I was born, and I know the team very well.

My Saints are doing just fine, thankyouverymuch, and to those that think they are just some nevergonnagetthere team, take note of the frustrations of the Steelers, and who they are today.

History cycles, and it is our turn now.

I suspect after next week we'll have the same records; when NO will be playing somebody other than basement dwellers.
