NHL 2013 post season thread!

They play open-ice hockey, so turnovers are part of it.

They're fun games to watch, but coaches hate these types of games specifically because of the high turnover rate which can obviously lead to goals.

Crawford played a hell of a game. That toe save he did was sick!

Both goalies were outstanding. The 4 goals scored by the Hawks (one on an open net) might be a little misleading. The Hawks would have scored 6 or 7 if the Wings had average goaltending last night.

I read today that Yankee Stadium is going to host a couple outdoor games now too. I'm not sure yet how I feel about that.

There was talk about this a while back but I guess it is official now. The Rangers are playing two games there, one against the Islanders and one against the Devils.

I was uneasy about it at first, especially having that many winter classic games at all. It should be really fun nonetheless.

That save was impressive - the way NHL goalies can anchor themselves when sprawled on ice is beyond my comprehension.

Embrace it! Especially if they do what they did at Fenway (which I suspect is standard) which was to leave the rink up for awhile to let HS and College teams use it and also have some public skating.

It will be interesting to see what the B's defensive pairings will be. Seidenberg may miss tonight and Ference is likely out as well - that is a top 2 and top 4 guy out.

Strat - we'll see a lot of Dougie Hamilton perhaps paired with Chara. Hamilton's stickhandling will come in handy as the B's try to find some shooting lanes in between all the Rangers trying to block shots. I think Hamilton would have seen time this series even without all the injuries on the blue line because of that.

Awesome!

He skates well. I don't find the Bruins to be a fast team, so a puck-moving D-man certainly wouldn't hurt on that team. He looks very comfortable on the PP, too. Haven't seen too many shots from him but they seem to be hitting the net often, which is better than most D-men's shots. :)

Eric Staal has been purposefully injured by Edler (of the Canucks) by a knee-on-knee hit.

Look at the blatantly obvious evidence. Wow!

You called it - Hamilton got an assist on a power play (which was scored by one of the other rookie D's Torey Krug (his second game this year). Hamilton also helped make the other power plays look dangerous even when they didn't score. Bartkowski, the other young D-man, also is pretty good at puck movement. The play of all 3 was the big question mark in my mind and it was put to bed last night.

EDIT - I just looked at the box score - Julien had so much confidence in Bartkowski, he had him out there for 26:42. Now I'm kinda glad Iginla went to Pittsburg, Bartkowski was the guy who would have gone. Chara played 38:02.

I listened to the NYR/BOS game on the radio. I really like listening to hockey on the radio. I about drove off the road when Marchand scored.

That is a danger - be careful out there.

Marchand seems to have that jump in his step back. Makes me think he had some sort of injury/illness during the Toronto series. It was a classic Bergy-Marchand 2 on 1 - with the puck nudged through 5 hole on the centering pass in front of the crease.
