NHL 2013 post season thread!

Finalists for the Jack Adams have been revealed.

They are ;

- MacLean
- Quenneville
- Boudreau

No Therrien. What the hell? Guy takes the team out of the basement of the NHL and gets them to 2nd in their Conference (4th in the league) and doesn't even get the nod?

Quenneville has Sharp, Toews, Kane, Keith, and Hossa. Doesn't exactly surprise me that they had a good year. I think he was probably nominated for that sick run at the beginning of the year. While fantastic, I stand by my argument that the roster of players he had weren't a challenge to coach in contrast to a team where your #1 centerman is Plekanec.

Ouch.

Two good games on Sunday, but I missed them both. Have you ever tried to watch hockey in Austin, Texas? My advice, don't. :)

I got back to my hotel just in time to see Ottawa score the winner. I like how in the Boston game a couple relatively unknown guys made some key contributions. Same deal for Ottawa.

The B's-Rangers was pretty tight for 2 periods - Rangers definitely opened stronger and their power play was more dangerous. The Bergy-Marchand reprise of the OT winner to open the 3rd was huge. Then the B's showed a bit more of the killer instinct and kept skating and didn't let the Rangers back in.

The kids are still alright on D, Krug with another goal and all three had assists. Hamilton got caught a bit on the Callahan goal, it was Marchand's turnover but Hamilton should have been a bit more defensive-minded with the puck that high up. Those are the kind of things that happen but they are all learning.

Good game between Pens and Sens. Sens manage to steal one. I predict the Pens win the next 2 and end the series. Some good play by the Sens (especially by Anderson, Pens could have easily put up 6+ goals in this game). I really didn't like the turtle strategy by the Pens at the end of the game. You're up 1-0, you have a power play to end the game, and you have the skill to keep the puck in the Sens end in the entire time. Instead, Pens dump the puck, play soft in the neutral zone, and let Alfie skate right down the center of the ice to put the puck in the net.

Red Wings deserve respect for bringing their A-game to the Hawks 2 games in a row. They now lead the series 2 to 1 and realistically, Chicago must win the next game in Detroit to make it to the next round.

The Hawks are playing well physically against Detroit but they're the victims of a classic "mental" collapse. On nearly every goal against the Hawks in these last two games, it was preceded by a seemingly small mistake, usually on D, that resulted in someone being out of position or making a bad pass, which seemed to cause something like a panicky scramble that just made the situation worse. Time after time, I watched a defenseman get out of position causing a team mate leave his man to try to cover for him, providing the Wings with glorious scoring opportunities.

This is the 2nd round of the playoffs and mental breakdowns, however brief, cost games. The Hawks really are better than this and there is no good reason why they can't maintain discipline and execute properly for a full 60 minutes. They'd better get their act together before the puck drops on the next game or they're sunk.

And in other news, here's reason # 978645 why Glenn Healy is an idiot who doesn't know anything about hockey.

"When you look at a guy like Datsyuk, not all the God-blessed talent in the world, but he is a hard worker..."

Wow.

LOL. Didn't see that until you mentioned it. Not that Datsyuk isn't a hard worker, but how are you going to say that about arguably the most talented player in the NHL?

Damn, King Henrik playing out of his mind tonight - props to him. The Rangers defense, not so much and because of him the game is not 3-1 Boston. Ok game thus far.

Note- man, I wish Doc Emrick was working this game :bawl:
