NHL Playoffs!

Go Anaheim! Go Ottawa! Go San Jose! Go Carolina! (only because I'm sick of Jersey being so damned unstoppable!)

Anaheim has a few Manitoba representatives on the team, so their my current fave next to Ottawa. Carlyle (Jet legend, Moose coach), Selanne (Jet legend), Joe DiPenta (Moose alumni), and Dustin Penner (local boy made good)

Just got home from the game. Ducks Killed colorado, pure domination. :) Good stuff

Yeah the Ducks really took it to the Avs. First team that's really looked scary to me as a Devils fan... I don't worry about teams with no defense. But Scotty's Ducks are playing great D, that hit on Brunette was the classic Scott Stevens type "if he's dumb enough to cross the blue line with his head down...", and Bryzgalov has back to back shutouts wearing number 30. *shudder* Creepy.

Bryzgalov is proving his worth and then some. 30+ shots not one goal against colo. considering he is only making like $450,000 versus Giggys $3.8 million, I think there might be some contract renegotiations. The ducks have been great with their speed on the transitions as well. I think the learned a thing or two about hitting after the calgary series and I don't think colorado was ready for that.

How did NJ lose 6-0? I didn't see the game, but 5 of the 6 goals were PPG.

I watched about a period & a 1/2.
A couple of early 'unlucky' goals(the first 2, IIRC) got behind Brodeur...Carolina looked fast, Jersey looked rusty.
It was Jersey's first loss in 41 days!
Jesrey has the Hurricanes right where they want them.
;)

Yeah the first 3 were lucky bounces. Even the Carolina player that scored the first 2 said in the interview "I didn't even take a shot on net". They went in off defender's sticks as they were trying to break up the centering pass. The 3rd was a shot that bounced off Brodeur's skate into net. Devils scored 3 against themselves to open the series.

Carolina's size is helping them win the battles for loose pucks along the boards, and they won most of the faceoffs too. They're crashing the goalie and not getting called for it. And on defense, Carolina is pulling all 5 guys into a tight formation in front of their net. Pretty tough to crack. Jersey has several adjustments to make against the Canes.

One thing that really irritates me about watching the playoffs this year... I guess I'm spoiled having Doc Emrick as our local play-by-play announcer on FSNY. Because every other announcer sounds completely ******** in comparison. "Duh there's some guy with a puck somewhere... ...*crickets*... now some other guy has the puck". I thought the western conference games had bad announcers, but the home announcers for Carolina had NO play-by-play! Lucky we have Doc calling the Anaheim game on NBC this afternoon, THAT's what play-by-play is supposed to sound like!
