I wouldn't go quite that far, but I do agree that the 'Canes are in for a rude awakening. Every game in that series except for the first one (a blowout against) had a 1 point margin. If you can't beat the 7th seed team by more than 1 point (with two wins in overtime) then how are you supposed to contain the hottest team in the league (at the moment)?

My money's on NJ in 5. I figure Carolina can fight to one win, but I can't see them getting much more.

But I've been wrong before, and this Cam Ward fellow might just give the 'Canes some hope.

Sometimes winning tough games by a goal, even over a 7th seed, builds some Playoff character.
And this may be dumb-
Jersey winning so easily & quickly may affect their hot play...when you're hot, ya wanna keep going.
When does Round 2 start anyway?

The Mighty Ducks (thank God it's the last season they're using that name) finished off Calgary last night. Now they go up against the Avalanche.

Interesting that the Eastern Conference has seeds 1 through 4remaining, and the Western has seeds 5 through 8. It may not mean much in the finals, though.

Western Conference seed 5-4 are teams that had a bad first half of season but great or good second half, so you are right it won’t matter much.

I know the new name loses some intimidation factor.

I hope they also revise the colors. Teal is not a hockey color.

I didnt mind teal on them, but purple? purple pants got to go, along with red pants (rangers and the jackets).

now that the flames are out, I'm hoping the sharks destroy the oilers. the flames didn't show up at all and the ducks deserved to win for sure, hopefully the sharks won't let me down too cause my two favorite teams are the Calgary flames and whoever is playing the oilers

Teal was big in, what 1990 or so?
The Sharks in Teal, Black, & Grey was new & edgy...it seemed more than a few jumped on that bandwagon.

I would love to see a team decked out in Black & Blue + Red(for blood).

Teal, I think was edgy in some circles about the time that A Flock of Seagulls were. Hockey, of course, is usually a little behind the fashion trends, when they pay attention to them at all. The best jerseys in hockey didn't change appreciably beyond some minimal revisions in the past couple decades because they didn't need to--the Canadiens, the Oilers, the Jets, the Whalers, the Bruins (except the third jersey with the bear's head), the Rangers (except the third jersey with the Statue of Liberty), et al.

I was pleased when the new owners of the Ducks hired Brian Burke (former Whalers GM) as general manager and Kevin Dineen (former heart and soul of the Whalers) to be head coach of their AHL affiliate, the Portland Pirates. Now the name is about to get respectable …

The Jets had a cool logo, but the colour scheme was a complete rip-off of the Rangers. They were also victims of bad pant colour (red). Black pants go with ANY jersey.
