Nooooo!!!

But … but … I know who Trudeau, Mackenzie-King, and Clark were … I know the difference between Saint John and St. John's … I know where Ottawa, Moose Jaw, and Nelson are … I know that the Yukon Territory isn't part of Alaska … I know one of the original members of the Guess Who … please, ebay.ca!!!! ;)

Which one? Pick wisely, because not all of them carry the same clout.

Also, it's a well known fact that to prove your Canadianhood all you really have to do is show an irrational love of beer, hockey, and Tim Hortons coffee (I'm not much of a coffee drinker so I make up the difference by really, really loving beer). If you want to be a prairie boy then you need to add whiskey to the list and be able to use "eh?" correctly in at least 5 unique situations.

Getting a good hate on for Toronto will improve your chances immensely, too. Nobody up here likes Toronto, especially the people who live there (though they might not admit it).

Atlanta is out, so all qualifying teams are settled. However, there's a lot of possible movement in the East - Ottawa and Carolina are 1 point apart for 1st, the Rangers are 1 ahead of both NJ and Philly for the Atlantic... imagine if Atlanta had won! Montreal and TB would both be very hard pressed for wins!

After reading through the rules it seems like only Canadians are eligible to win prizes, but I'm not sure that that'll stop you from joining the fun.

For those Canucks out there considering joining, the winner of each round gets a 19" wide screen LCD TV and whoever wins the whole shebang gets $5000 worth of eBay gift certificates. I don't plan on winning, but it's nice to think about.

Hey!

I was thinking about starting a TB playoff pool?

I know, I know, I haven't been keeping the regular season pool that I started up to date. But in my defense, I've been busy with work, and paying rent. Now that I pretty much have the summer off, there will be lots of time for updated and such. So my apologies to those in the regular season pool.

Give me a shout if you're interested.

I think it would go similar to the TB regular season pool, except less players. Maybe 3 forwards, 2 defense, 1 goalie (all from different teams is an option also?). This would keep it simple, and easier on people unfamiliar with pools. No fee entry, No prizes either.... but you get bragging right!

ps: waiting on JPJ for pups still. Shouldn't be too far off. Any progress on tools?

I'm in for the TB hockey pool, but I don't think I'll do too well. I went with my brains, for now, and picked those that SHOULD do well. That NEVER works, but I've got to stick to it.

And Bob Lee knows his Canadiana! Kudos!

Bob: The friend you speak of (Portage and Main, 50 below) is one of my inspirations for helping me lose my excess weight (70ish lbs with 30 to go)! I'm so glad he got healthy, and he sure helped me get on track. If you could, please pass that along!

I always thought it was Broad Belt but you're the one who knows the guy. I saw BTO a few years back and they still rocked. Of course, I think Turner was the only original member (though the drummer could have been as well) but he could still lay some mean licks on his bass and his screaming was pretty top notch.

As for the playoff pool, I'm in for whatever. I also encourage people to join the eBay one just because it's incredibly easy and there's always the outside chance of winning some swag.

Actually that'll make 3 playoff pools that I'm a part of now. I'll win something eventually, dammit!

PS: Tools are coming slow, but tax refund money should help speed things up.

Little David was in his 5th grade class when the teacher asked the children what their fathers did for a living. All the typical answers came up; doctor, fireman, policeman, salesman, etc. David was being uncharacteristically quiet and so the teacher asked him about his father.

"My father's an exotic dancer in a gay bar and takes off all his clothes in front of other men. Sometimes, if the offers really good, he'll go out to the alley with some guy and make love with him for money".

The teacher, obviously shaken by this statement, hurriedly set the other children to work on some colouring, and took Little David aside to ask him, "Is that really true about your father?"

"No," said David, "He plays for the Toronto Maple Leafs, but I was too embarrassed to say that in front of the other kids".

Playoffs are prettymuch deicded...

It sucks that we gotta play Carolina in the first round.

Even nine years after the Great Green Diaspora (in Hartford, the Whaler diehards still hold a "Fanniversary" event every April 13), my favorite team is still whoever's playing the Hurricanes.

Tickets sold out in like 30 minutes and now they're really expensive (twice the price or more) on ebay. I'm disappointed. Us habs fans are too many in number and are too loyal. I can't get any tickets.

I love knowing people who work for the team... we sold out but we are getting in:)

Cool.

Ok. We can use the same rules as in the regular season TB playoff pool.

Let's decide on what sort of teams we're going to play with:

here's my input

A. 3 forwards, 2 defense, 1 goalie. All from different teams.
B. 3 forwards, 2 defense, 1 goalie. From any teams.

C. 6 forwards, 3 defense, 1 goalie. Different teams.
D. 6 forwards, 3 defense, 1 goalie. From any teams.

Personally I'd like B. A would be fun, and more of a challenge, but B would be better for people unfamiliar with pools, and hockey. With A, you will run the risk of having teams that will have many of the same players, where as B you probably won't run in to that as much.

Let me know what you guys think. Once we decide on this, I can start compiling teams and getting the excel file ready.

For scoring, I think we should go with goal = 1, assist = 1, win = 1, shutout = 1 for win, +2 shutout. Oh, also, if a goalie scores, it's 1 for goal, +2 extra. Gooooooooo Hextall!!!!!!!!!!!!!
