NHL Season 2018-19

Very cool...The Red Sox have changed the start time of their Wednesday game from 7:10 to 4:10p.

I opted to leave the announcers off and to put on some peter gabriel. looks like I'll be doing that again on Wed.

I wish everyone could get CBC. I have to point my antenna toward windsor to get a slightly better signal, so for two months, my wife's law and order reruns are little fuzzy. I'm always sad when I have to point it back toward the detroit stations at the end of the playoffs.

NHL on the radio, that's the way to do it. Well, provided your team has a good radio team.
I'm not sure if this will come out right. I think it's cool that the NHL is involving women in broadcasts, but I'd like to see the women they pick to have more actual hockey knowledge. At times it feels more to me like eye candy or just so they can check a box somewhere to say they give women equal chances.

Jessica Mendoza on the MLB broadcast is a great example. She's actually very knowledgeable about the physical mechanics of the game and actual game strategy

Both of the women I've heard doing games are ex-players-but not great talkers.

Everyone around here agrees, but further west, not so much. Google "Acciari embellishment" for confirmation. Truth be told, I have tried to defend the indefensible, so I understand where the minority of Blues fans are coming from.

The NHL, in effect, admitted that the Game 5 officials were so bad that it was tarnishing their crown jewel. Leagues seldom admit mistakes (especially around officiating and I understand why as hockey is a tough game to officiate). Even less seldom do leagues do something to reduce the risk of the same mistake from happening again. It was actually a smart marketing more than anything else as I'm sure that casual fans and neutral fans prefer a hard, fast, fairly clean game like Game 6 vs the headhunting, slew-footing nonsense of Game 5.

Hey I'm further west. No calls of embellishment here

Every hockey-playing kid growing up fantasizes over playing in Game 7 of the Finals...tonight half of them will realize that dream, and the other half will go home crushed.

Regardless who wins tonight, I just want to tip my cap to all who participated in this thread all season long, and of course, a big shout out to @MJ5150 for starting (and continuing) these annual NHL threads.

Game on! (One last time!)

honestly, at the start of the year, I don't think I wouldve believed you if you told me the Bruins would be in the finals. I'm crazy excited and feel good about tonight. I did enjoy the stories yesterday about the blues' owner yelling at the Bruins ice crew. Not sure he realized gryzleck's dad works on that crew.

I missed that and had to look it up. It was the GM, he was pissed that the Bruins' practice went long. The bull gang's answer was great:

"Let's get the ice ready," Armstrong yelled at the drivers of the Olympia ice resurfacers from the stands. "Do your ------ job."
As Armstrong walked away, one of the drivers said, "You could be a little bit nicer about it. Who pissed in your cereal?"

also, looks like Gryzleck will be in tonight for Clifton on the 3rd D pairing. That should be pretty helpful, as he's better moving the puck and a better skater. Hopefully he can get his feet moving and his decision making isn't too affected. Also, read that Wagner is good to go as well, curious if they swap him out for Accairi or keep him upstairs. Damn I'm excited for tonight!

Well, one way or the other, will be over tonight (or maybe early tomorrow morning...). Just hoping for a good game. Been a very even series, back and forth. But if Rask plays like he did in game 6, not sure Blues have much of a chance. Read a good article the other day, basically said that even if Bruins lose, Rask should still win MVP. I would agree.

And tomorrow begins the "Jonesing" 'til mid September pre season.
