Congrats Blues, they were not screwin around with that one.
Wow. O'Reilly goes from a crappy Buffalo team to collecting some serious hardware. Quite a reversal.
To me the best thing was the part the refs didn't play in this game.

Still kind of shocked not only that St Louis won Game 7, but that they did it quite convincingly. I tuned it at the start of the third and was not too happy to see the Blues sitting back and playing nothing but defense on a precarious 2-0 lead. Finally they generated some offense and notched a couple of insurance goals, but geez, that Binnington kid saved the day with some spectacular saves.
Not sure what the official line was, but I would call the Blues win an upset, albeit a mild one. Especially after the 5-1 drubbing they took at home in Game 6. Did not expect such a one-sided score.
One last note...I've always liked Jay Bouwmeester but he was another of those underrated players who was always stuck on not-so-good teams. Was cool to see that he was the first guy that Pietrangelo handed off the Cup to. (They appeared to pass the Cup based on seniority in the league...been done before but still classy.) Not really a big Blues fan, but I gotta congratulate them and Coach Berube for a remarkable six months.

I saw Bruins at -185 just before faceoff.
Super impressed by Binnington last night. That pad save with the right leg was phenomenal. Also pleased that it was an entertaining game despite the lopsided score. Even with five minutes left it felt like Boston was still in it.
Two things that I thought were really weird was how quickly the Boston crowd cleared the building after the game ended. I distinctly remember last season the crowd at T-mobile stuck around forever to watch the caps parade around with the cup. Is witnessing championships so old hat in Boston now that they'd rather get home to watch Netflix then see the greatest tradition in all of sports even if it's not their team?
Also, I swear Binnington was like the 20th person to get to skate with the cup. What the hell?
Also, Binnington is the first rookie goalie to win 16 playoff games. Look at the freaking names on this list:

Thank you @dwm74 for the earlier comment. I mean it when I say this is the only place I talk hockey on the internet. I've tried a few other places, but they aren't the same.
I have a high level of respect for each of you along with the knowledge and history of the game you each bring.
Thanks to all of you as well for putting up with my crying about my buddies, 'Mr. Glove side high' and Jack Johnson game in and game out.
I stand by my comment that the knowledge and hockey IQ of our group rivals what we see on TV.
I was thinking a new thread should start with the start of free agency, which thanks to the NHL, is only two weeks away.

I noticed this same thing. You could see quite a few people in the crowd heading for the exits after the third STL goal. I pointed it out to my ten year old and speculated just what you did, that maybe Boston is so spoiled by success that they don't care to watch someone else win. I feel like you don't normally notice the home fans leaving after the visitor wins the Cup until the Cup is at least presented to the captain.
St Louis has always been a good hockey town but I think last night they made a ton of new fans. I've lived in the area for most of my life and I've never seen anything like that before. The Enterprise Center watch party selling out in minutes. Huge crowd in Busch stadium sitting in the rain. Block parties seemingly at every bar with a parking lot. I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that 50,000 people were out of their homes last night. I've always been a casual, on and off again, hockey fan. I enjoy it, but never at the level I enjoyed the Rams when they were here. I think maybe that has changed. The atmosphere last night was truly something contagious. Anyway, looking forward to next season. Perhaps I may even join the thread before game 7 next time lol.

that I'm way off on the estimation. Two full stadiums and 50,000 in the street. Very nice of the Cardinals to open up Busch stadium. I know they made some money but I doubt they made much off the reduced prices. Anyway for clarity sake it was more then I originally stated.
