NHL Season 2018-19

I saw that and remember thinking how screwed Martin was when Chara grabbed his jersey.
Gave me flashbacks to martial arts classes when I wad sparring partners with a guy who was 6' 9". Ypu could be atrong, fast, and skilled, but still get the tar beat out of you by a mediocre opponant who is a foot taller.
The Panthers beat the Yotes tonight, 4-2, giving themselves enough points to make the playoffs-if they were in the Pacific.
Pittsburgh tried to give another game away late, but Crosby wouldn't let it happen this time.
Murray came up big along the way. I didn't watch this game, so that's all I got for this one.

I only got to see the last minute of OT, but Letang set up Guentzel with a perfect pass but 59 missed the wide open net. Judging by the crowd reaction noise it seemed like there were a lot of Pens fans that made the trip to Nashville, which is known for its boisterous fans. Murray put on a clinic in the shootout.
But the game was the same old story lately...one-goal lead, cough it up in the last couple of minutes, etc etc. At least this time they pulled out the extra point in the shootout. And Carolina and NYI lost. Double happiness!

Yotes have lost 3 straight while Avs have won 3 straight, knocking the underdogs of the desert out of the Wild Card slot for the moment. Really pulling for the local boys to get in...would be quite a feat for this team of nobodies.
Then maybe, just maybe the local media would notice we have an NHL team here. The Phoenix Suns have stunk ever since Robert Sarver took over, and these past few years they've been the laughingstock of the NBA, as they are beyond terrible. They're 30 games out of a playoff spot but they win one or two meaningless games and they remain plastered all over the local news with nary a mention about the Coyotes.
Then maybe, just maybe the local media would notice we have an NHL team here. The Phoenix Suns have stunk ever since Robert Sarver took over, and these past few years they've been the laughingstock of the NBA, as they are beyond terrible. They're 30 games out of a playoff spot but they win one or two meaningless games and they remain plastered all over the local news with nary a mention about the Coyotes.
My stomach was twisting in knots as the end of regulation approached and they were only up by 1.
AND THEN IT FREAKIN HAPPENED AGAIN.
I got even more nervous as OT was running out due to their recent lack of success in SOs. Thank the hockey gods Murray and Sid got it done. I almost felt bad for Rinne, he really played his butt off.
Same here in Redskin territory. Though the Caps have changed that a little. Year after year the Skins can have another turd of a season and then sign some has been during the off season and everybody starts thinking SOOOOPER BOOOOOWL. It seems it doesn't matter if the coach is Turner, Robiskie, Schottenheimer, Spurrier, Gibbs, Zorn, Shanahan and Gruden or the QB's are Brad Johnson, Jeff George, Tony Banks, Shane Mathews, Patrick Ramsey, Danny Wuerffel, Tim Hasselbeck, Mark Brunnell, Jason Campbell, Todd Collins, Donovan McNabb, Rex Grossman, John Beck, RGIII, Kirk Cousins, Alex Smith, Josh Johnson, Colt McCoy or Mark Sanchez the results are the same. Mid pack mediocrity. The only constant here is Dan Snyder. As long as he's the owner this is the team the Skins are.Like maybe a new owner and GM?

It might be nice to have the revolving door franchise in D.C.
Eerily similar to the NFL Cardinals out here. I won't name the dozens of QBs and coaches, but the one constant has been the Bidwill family, notably Bill Bidwill Sr. The same owner that allegedly deducted $30 from #1 draft pick Eric Swann's signing bonus to cover the cost of the hat they handed him when he stepped up on stage with Tagliabue at the draft. Quite a few anecdotes like that form much of his legacy.
I will admit that when he stepped back, his son Michael has made great strides in making the Cards competitive a few times over the past decade or so, but not with consistency. In fairness, it's a tough league to win in, but this younger Bidwill actually seems interested in winning rather than saving a dollar.
Tried to watch the CWHL Final yesterday. I'm sorry if this offends anybody, but that was darn near unwatchable. Had to turn it off after about 10 minutes. Perhaps the ice was bad, but the stickhandling, passing, and overall hockey sense was like watching a group of Pewees during tryouts. A couple of very good players surrounded by a cast of warm bodies. Having watched many Olympic Women's games, I was expecting a higher caliber of play.
Anybody watch Duke vs. UCF yesterday? Great game. My friends arent into hoops that much but everybody was rooting for the underdogs by the end. Oh well.
I feel you @dwm74 on that. I went to ECHL games for two years, definitely not crisp play. I liked it though. It felt more like how I'd play, so it was relatable.
Tickets were $6-10, parking was free, concessions were reasonable. It was cheaper than a movie, and way better than that in my opinion.
