NHL Season 2019-20

Draft lottery...the NHL Placeholders won the #1 overall pick! Well, that couldn't have worked out any weirder in an already weird season, eh?

Stinks for Ottawa and especially Detroit. They'll both get great players (it is a deep draft) but looks like they'll miss out on the two franchise superstars-to-be. Gonna be curious to see which of the qualifying round losers end up with that first pick.

I can't help but think that the NHL is spinning it's wheels at this point. They seem dead set on finishing a season that, frankly, I just don't really care about anymore. And they seem to be doing it with little to no regard to the 20/21 season.
So, as far as I can figure out, if they go ahead with their plans, the 19/20 season would be completed some time in October. A period of "down time" to follow, before the start of the 20/21 season... which in all likelihood, with be a truncated season as well.
My thinking given the number of infected players; right off the end of 19/20 season and start fresh in October, if they can, and put in a full season. That seems to make more sense and it eliminates potentially, the cluster^&*% that the draft has become. Draft picks should be based on standings...

Never happen-makes too much sense.

In some ways I am okay with them just dumping the season--there's too much weird stuff going on.
And now it comes up that players & teams can be fined & draft picks lost if player decline to play.
That may not be official yet--but at least the sentiment is out there.

(Although now that I read it again, I may have misunderstood some of the intent-still with he risks out there, cancelling it all wouldn't bother me)

Just peeking in here... I don't want to say anything just in case they do go ahead with the season. The outbreak certainly seems like a plot against the Flyers though . . .

We should just hand the Cup to the President's Trophy winner and call it a year
No way. Not exactly a shining track record.

President's Trophy winner has only won the Cup eight times since the '85-86 season (When the President's Trophy was established).
And the PT winners have lost in the first round seven times.

Just give all the teams participation trophies and call it a season. :smug:
