NHL Season 2021-22

I like both of the guys the Pens traded away, especially Dominik Simon. I am not a happy camper on this day when I found out about the trade.

Yeah, I liked ZAR but in all honesty those two guys are easily replaced. Aston-Reese is a very good defensive shut-down guy (but can't score) and Simon simply couldn't find the net anymore after two seasons of 20+ points. We bring in a two-time 30 goal scorer to put on Malkin's wing for the playoffs in exchange for a couple of 3rd/4th liners who are UFAs at the end of the season anyway...I'd take that deal any time.

Sure enough, but I wasn't looking at the trade for the on the ice value, which does make sense.
Maybe I'll end up liking Rakell too, but for now he is the guy who took Simon from me. :D

Leafs to wear Bieber-designed third jersey.
That's exciting for Toronto fans, and Justin Bieber fans.

$280 CAD for a numbered jersey... these will sell like hot cakes to the younger generation I'm sure. My son, almost 20, was pretty excited about these last night.
Me, I have a self imposed boycott that's been running for decades... no new jersey for me until they actually win something. Funny, my mid-70's jersey seems to have shrunk over the decades! LOL

Yeah, I still have my #21 Stan Mikita Jersey hanging in my closet. I got it at age 14 and it's for sure I'll never be able to stuff my fat self into it again.

Who knew that polyester would shrink so much over time! LOL

I'm pretty impressed with myself. I still wear the same size socks I wore in the military 50-some years ago...:D

Back in '82 I was at the Hawks game in the Chicago Stadium waiting in line at the concession stand when the guy behind me said, "Excuse me, but do you want me to sign your Jersey?"

I turned around and looked up into the face of Stan Mikita himself!

I wanted to say, "Yes, please Mr. Mikita, it would be an honor", but I remember it came out something like, "Yebbashubbadoovoobitamata".

I once played a game of table hockey against Darryl Sittler...I was soundly trounced!

My brother's amateur league hockey team once played a charity game against the Blackhawks alumni team, with Denis Savard, Stan Mikita, Dennis Hull, Cliff Koroll, Al Secord, and others.

They were all retired and well past their prime, but were obviously loafing out on the ice and could have easily kicked my brother's team's collective butt if they'd wanted to, but intentionally kept it close to make it interesting for the spectators.

Pens rebound from a dismal showing in the state of New York, losing to Buffalo in OT and being absolutely embarrassed in Madison Square Garden, and take their frustration out on the hapless Wings, 11-2. Hoping they saved a few goals for the rematch against the Rangers on Tuesday.
