Yeah, can't blame the Flyers slide all on Carter Hart but he's definitely struggling lately. Now you know the frustration we felt with Matt Murray these past few years...when you know what he's capable of, but just not seeing it often enough.

Hart's confidence is shattered. This is particularly troublesome because one of his many attributes was not letting a loss affect him mentally. But because he's had such a porous, almost non-existent defense in front of him, it's been one bad outing after another.
I've been a Flyers fan for so long that I don't really expect much from them anymore. But for his sake, I sure hope he can bounce back from this malaise. I'd hate to see a young, talented kid like that ruined long-term...

"The Sabres have the longest winless stretch since the Pittsburgh Penguins went 0-17-1 in 2003-04. Pittsburgh followed that up by drafting Evgeni Malkin (No. 2 overall in 2004) and Sidney Crosby (No. 1 in 2005) in consecutive drafts. The last team to go winless in 19 straight was the 1993-94 Winnipeg Jets."

Hard for me to ever root for the Flyers but I'd like to see Buffalo pass the Penguins' mark of futility from '03-04. Last night's Flyers' rally erased a 3-0 Sabres lead after two periods. They play again tomorrow.
The Sabres likely won't be as lucky as the Pens were with their succeeding draft picks but Buffalo can only go upward at this point. I'm expecting a helluva fire sale over the next two weeks till the trade deadline. Seems like everybody wants out of there...Hall, Montour, Eichel, etc.

The Flyers announcers were saying last night that Ristolainen could benefit from a change of scenery. He's a hitter, and appears to be somebody the Flyers could use on Defense. Not sure what his contract situation is though.
He could possibly take Ghost's spot...Gostisbehere placed on waivers...

I see this as a mistake. Ghost has been playing inspired hockey of late and has been one of the Flyers best defensemen. He's an excellent skater/puck mover able to escape the defensive zone with his skating skills rather than risk a dangerous pass. ALL of the defensemen have struggled this year. Even Provorov has stunk it up. Sanheim and Myers, normally a solid pairing, have been horrible for a long stretch this season. Justin Braun has been one of the most reliable D-men, but he's not gonna' make anybody go, "WOW, did you see that???"
Gostisbehere and the snake-bitten big guy, Sam Morin, have played well together over the past few games. I think there's probably a personality clash between Vigneault and Gostisbehere.
Well, he did get a minor penalty and has received the maximum fine allowed, but no question that was a real cheap shot.
I would agree that it's Vigneault doing stuff just to shake up the complacency or whatever he feels is holding the team back. It's a gamble but as the article says, his $4.5M for 3 more years might scare off most GMs, but it only takes one who feels lucky to make a claim. I believe they can recall the waiver and keep him, but it's still a gamble, if you ask me.
I always liked the guy (despite him wearing the orange & black) but the last thing my Pens need is another puck-moving defenseman. (Hextall/Burke still looking for a couple of physical players with some skill.)
Sabres win 6-1. Normally that would not be news, but since their last W came on Feb 23, it's a huge relief for the Buffalo players and fans. Ullmark played a heck of a game, as did Montour.
Vigneault healthy-scratched Nolan Patrick, Oskar Lindblom, and Gostisbehere. Replaced them with AHL'ers Bunnaman, Twarynski, and Gustafsson. They did virtually nothing. But that was the story yet again for almost all of the Flyers. Yet another horrible outing...
Interesting to look at the standings right now....see the same thing in each division, 3 teams pulling away from the others and fighting for the top seed, and 2 or 3 teams fighting for the final playoff spot. Going to make for an interesting last part of the season. Oh, and.....Freddie Who?

Just when the Penguins seemed to have tightened up the goalie play over the past couple of weeks, they go and let in 15 in two games. Seven to the Bruins and eight to the Rangers. (thankfully only surrendered two last night.)
