Nah, it'll all come out in the wash. Teams I root for tend to lose, more often than not.
28 years since the Habs were in final (& 28 since they won it as well.
Meanwhile the Lightning won last year & one other time since the Habs did.
And yet some out there are cheering for the Lightning because Montreal wins the Cup too much
(Yeah they'e won way more than anybody else--but it's been 28 years)

I'm cheering for the Lightning 'cos I live in FL, I've been to Amalie Arena quite a few times(my only complaint is that they don't have a Porter/Stout), and I'd like to see them repeat before we lose some key people to FA/UFA/cap space.
Totally makes sense--but I know people who will not cheer for Montreal because they "win it too much."
TBH, the main reason I don't 'cheer' for any Canadian team: We don't get the coverage in south FL. If it's hockey, I'll watch it even if I don't "know" either team. As many Canadians as winter down here, ya'd think there'd be TV coverage. Nope.
Wow, what a season... All of my favorite teams fell like dominoes! I'm going to have to pull for the Bolts. The drummer for my former Moscow band has moved to downtown Tampa (he can see the arena from his apartment balcony!) and his company has season tickets. So there's my surrogate cathartic Stanley Cup team for this year...
I can't cheer for the Habs because I am a Leaf fan, it's just that simple. They have historically been our main rivals and I despise them.
Too many Hab fans in my life, I just tell them that it's easy to be a Habs fan, you want a challenge, try being a Leaf's fan! LOL

I can't find a reason to cheer for or against either team. I've fallen into that dangerous category for sports leagues, apathetic.
If Martin St. Louis was still playing, I'd cheer for Tampa.

Looked a lot like the first Golden Knights/Habs game......
Rooting for Montreal as I assume that my Quebecois cousins are rooting for them. Most of my ancestors were habitants as well. Gotta go with family on this one, but the Bolts are probably repeating.

As a Bolts fan, I hope yer right. I wanna see them repeat b4 we lose a bunch of players.
