NHL Season 2023-24

When GoLeafsGo made this suggestion earlier I didn't think that was the case. Now, I'm leaning toward that is what they were doing, although playing well enough to maintain plausible denialability. I, too, hate it as a strategy as I've seen it backfire way too often.

The main thing is they appear to be relatively healthy, although you never know with hockey players until the season ends and they are lined up outside of Mass General's operating rooms.

Monty has pushed them pretty hard this year, so my Black and Gold goggle take is that they needed to take a bit of a breather, mentally more than physically. A few of these last 7-8 games have been at near-playoff intensity so they know what is coming up and I think (hope? pray?) they will be ready.

Somehow the Capitals squeak into the playoffs, thanks in part to a bonehead move by none other than Tortorella. The same Caps who are -37 in goal differential, yet somehow made the post-season. Worst GD in NHL history for a playoff team.

Was very exciting to see the Pens and Red Wings finish the season the way they did, hopefully it will push into next season. Perhaps Lalonde keeps his job after all, and maybe the Pens remember to play all 60 minutes of every game, not just the final dozen.

Pastrnak's give-away pass for Ottawa's empty-netter was a thing of beauty, wasn't it? You can't tell me that he makes that pass if the idea was to really win the game. That was just a sloppy who-gives-a-**** play IMHO. The Bruins played well enough in the 3rd period to show that they could still enforce their will on an inferior team when they wanted to. Ottawa's goalie making some outstanding saves, so it's really hard to tell whether the B's wanted that game or not.

Eventually Toronto is going to beat the Bruins after getting shut out for the season series. IMO neither team passes the sniff test as looking like they're poised to make a deep run. Florida teams looking good....again.

The Arizona Bettman's are dead, long live the Jazz Coyotes! I think they morph that cubist-like Coyote design into a black and white image of coyotes in a jazz trio, replete with black suits and skinny black ties. Some crossover events with new owner's NBA team and it's a match made in heaven, right there in Utah "the birthplace of Jazz!".

Salutations stick and puckers.

I am starting an MBA at Boston University this fall and I am very quickly learning that hockey is a huge deal up there. As a native Texan I do not know a dang thing about this ice, let alone sports taking place on it. Where should I start?

Being as you will be in Boston, the first and most important thing to know is that Bobby Orr was BY FAR the greatest hockey player of all time. Period. End of story. Mic drop.

Start going to a BU game, or 6, and preferably against BC or the bean pot tournament. You'll get sucked in right fast
