Just like "suck for Luck", the Bruins were "tanking for Toronto" with the Leafs losing to Florida. Probably bite them in the ass, but arguably a better matchup than Tampa, who got hot at the right time.
When GoLeafsGo made this suggestion earlier I didn't think that was the case. Now, I'm leaning toward that is what they were doing, although playing well enough to maintain plausible denialability. I, too, hate it as a strategy as I've seen it backfire way too often.
The main thing is they appear to be relatively healthy, although you never know with hockey players until the season ends and they are lined up outside of Mass General's operating rooms.
Monty has pushed them pretty hard this year, so my Black and Gold goggle take is that they needed to take a bit of a breather, mentally more than physically. A few of these last 7-8 games have been at near-playoff intensity so they know what is coming up and I think (hope? pray?) they will be ready.
