Marchand got a 6-game suspension in 2022 and no fines since 2018. If you do not watch a lot of Bruin games, you don't see the restraint that he plays with given that every team tries to bait him and the refs let them get away with cheap stuff that they would call if it were any other superstar getting harrassed. But I get it, bad reputations are sticky.
He has been exceptional in his first year as the Captain this year. IMO, a big reason why a team that lost Bergy and Krecji finds itself in the playoffs.
I've despised him since he entered the league. That said, like most players I don't like, he'd look good in blue and white! LOL

Linesman is a good comparison, I was wondering if there were other rats or pests that scored as much as Marchand does.
There was an interest stat in the Globe today. Apparently, the B's have been much better on the road in the playoffs (4-1) than at home (2-5) the past two years. Small sample size, but the TV guys noted that the Garden crowd was tense and nervous in Game 5 (with good reason the B's are 1-6 in their last 7 home Game 5's).
I'm hoping that the Scotiabank crowd will fill the arena with nervous energy and dread.

I'm thinking that this week has shown us pretty definitively that it doesn't matter who wins between the Leafs and the Bs... because Florida will have either one of them for lunch in Round 2.

Looks like the Leafs are gonna have to cancel a few tee times-for now.
Not as well as I had hoped.
Bruins played a bit better, but the Leafs are playing incredible defense - not allowing many shots to even get to the net.
Looking forward to Game 7.

These Bruins teams are too predictable. I fully expect them to go down in flames for game 7, as they've done so many times in recent memory. Toronto figuring out how to play winning playoff hockey without Matthews, showing that he may be more of a liability than he's worth.
Neither of these teams showing that they're going to sustain a deep run IMHO. Oh well. Here we go again.
Exactly. They didn't adjust at all. That's on the coaching staff.
Last year's team was ready to go home early and was so banged up they knew they had no chance to go deeper. This team is younger, healthier, and more physical and I don't get the sense that they are ready to go home. Nor do they want to be the team that blew 3-1 leads in consecutive playoffs and they want to prove they can beat Florida. Likewise, Toronto is no stranger to disappointing Stanley Cup playoff runs and these last two wins give them hope that this might be the year.
Game 7s are inherently dramatic; but this one, for a round 1 match up, is off the charts.
