NHL Season 2023-24

From a math and statistics standpoint, the history of the Leafs-Bruins is bordering on the absurd

Boston has won 7 straight series, back to 1959

the 3 series's that have gone 7? All the game counts won by the same team

B game 1
T game 2
B game 3
B game 4
T game 5
T game 6
B game 7

that's now happened 3x

I was impressed at how quickly the Leafs cranked up their defense in the last 3 games. Is the coach really on the hot seat? I'd give him a season to integrate that defensive scheme with the offensive talent Toronto has.

I'm hoping the long layoff hurts the Panthers, but the rust, if any, will probably be gone in 2 or 3 minutes and the time they have had to heal nagging injuries is a huge advantage.

Other than soreness from all the hitting in the series, I think the B's are relatively healthy.

If I were ABC/ESPN, I would try to figure out how to use the local broadcasters for the intermissions- sort of like the Manningcast on Monday Night Football. I'm fine with Sean McDonough (Boston guy, I know, but a real pro) on play-by-play, but Subban and Messier are a huge step down from the NESN crew between the periods.

I liked the Leafs this series. I certainly don't think their coach made any decisions wrong enough to get fired. They played well and it was mostly Swayman who defeated them; it certainly wasn't a flaw with the Leafs' defense or goaltending.

I do believe the Bruins' run will be determined by their own goaltending, though that's hardly a hot take. I think their hopes depend on Swaymark being steady enough until the forwards can figure out how to score again. I WOULD go back to the rotation system for the next series, just to see what happens; yes Sway was the MVP of this series, but Ullmark might have done just as well.

I have to say I thought PK was mostly on the mark last night during the interstitials. I would prefer the locals, though.

Not a Sean McDonough fan. He spends alotta time unnecessarily pointing out negatives about any team. He seems very biased. That's OK if yer calling a game for a home market; not for a National broadcast-IMNSHO.
