NHL Season 2023-24

Here's why the Pens are no good. They're old....

Dubas inherited most of it, but he didn't do himself any favors bringing in has beens like Eller.
Although I will say it's quite unfortunate to think guys in the mid 30's are considered old, haha.

Yeah, good point, but it's not that they're 'no good'. They are good, just for part of the game. Being older, t'aint enough gas left in the tank for a full 60-minute effort.

On the other hand, while there are a handful of over-the-hill players on the roster, those 36-37 yr olds... Sid, Geno, Tanger...aren't that many players in the league (of any age) that are better, IMO. Other than McDavid, Draisaitl, MacKinnon, to name a few.

That's true 99% of the time, but there are a few exceptions. Mark Messier comes to mind.

Well into his 40s, he was playing 20 - 25 min/game and I marveled at the fact that during OT, he'd actually get more ice time than the younger players, and he'd typically be sprinting up and down the ice while his teammates were running out of gas.

Messier was such a monster.

Ditto Chris Chelios.

I'm thinking Messier could be proof of extraterrestrials living among us. He was just amazing.

Sens air looking the same from the last couple of seasons : horrific starts

Hope they stop the bleeding before it's too late for playoff spot.
My guess : Coach swap before long

And for us Penguins fans, so were the Ducks, Blues, Blackhawks, Senators, Red Wings, and Stars. :rage:

Penguins are 3-6, currently the worst record in the Eastern Conference. :poop:

Never expected them to run away with the division this season, but I certainly didn't expect this dismal start. :vomit:

I wonder how much longer until the new owners and GM decide Sullivan is the problem. I'm not sure a new coach will make a difference, maybe a jolt of energy for 3-5 games.
