NHL Season 2024-25

And I thought the game was Sunday evening, so needless to say I missed it.
No worries, as I've already seen it replayed eleventeen times on NHLN.
As I'd mentioned previously, being a Pens fan I've pretty much loathed Ovi his entire career, and rooted against him getting this record. But now that it's happened, I salute his accomplishment and certainly respect what he's done.
Now, lets' get back to the business of wild card jockeying and into the playoffs!

I'm figuring if it keeps a similar constant of 31 years, and the next record breaker will likely accomplish this feat in his late 30's...meaning he's likely just playing in the mites(age 8 & under) or squirts(age 9-10) division today. Keep an eye out for this kid!
In today's NHL, the likeliest players to possibly get close (barring injury) are Matthews, Draisaitl, and maybe Pastrnak. Anybody else come to mind?

Don't know if anybody noticed the comeback by the Canucks the other day. Down 3-0 after two, and still trailing 5-2 with 1:00 to go in the third period in Dallas, they score THREE goals in that final minute to send the game to OT. And they pull off the win in the extra frame, keeping their dim playoff hopes alive.
Despite that amazing comeback, they were mathematically eliminated the following night, but hey, what a thrill for all those 'Nucks fans.

That game turned out like I expected, definite playoff feel
Sharks vs Wild was nuts. Celebrini with a hat-trick, Erickson-Eck with 4 goals, Sharks tie it late and send it to overtime. Wild wins, keeps their playoff hopes alive. Sharks keep their draft lottery hopes alive. Celebrini keeps the Calder cup within reach. Super entertaining from puck drop to OT. Crazy game.
This will be one of the toughest Calder Trophy races in recent memory...Hutson in Montreal or Celebrini in San Jose. Both are quite valuable to their teams, although with the Canadiens looking to be a playoff team, which tilts things in Hutson's favor. Rightly or wrongly.
Still, I have to wonder if there's any East Coast Bias at play. Heck, I live in the west and still haven't seen the Sharks play but a couple of times this season. The networks have no problem showing numerous games featuring bottom-feeders in the east all season long (Bos/Chi/Philly/NYR).

Speaking of bottom-feeders like Philly, Matvei Michkov deserves to be in the Calder conversation. I'd love to have all three of them on my team!

I think Dustin Wolf stands a solid chance of winning the Calder. If the Flames make the playoffs, it'll be due in huge part to Wolf. The Flames were just in San Jose, and he looked amazing. If Celebrini doesn't win it, I hope Wolf does.
