NHL Season 2024-25

Gripe with DirecTV. When we had the Coyotes here, DirecTV would black out their games on NHL Network because they were also being broadcast on the local FoxSports/Bally/whatever affiliate. I totally understand that.

But so far this season, WITHOUT a local team, DirecTV is blacking out all games of both Utah Hockey Club AND Vegas Golden Knights on NHL Network. Since we don't have a local carrier for those teams, I don't get why we're locked out of watching those games on NHL Network. It's not like either are considered a 'home team' for Phoenix.

Now through 10/18, out of market games are free on NHL Center Ice(on cable-dunno nuthin' 'bout DirecTV). Kinda hard to find, but better than nothing.

Props to Geno for netting goal #500. Ditto Sid for point #1600.

Wild game that saw Buffalo jump out to a early 2-0 lead. Pens pull Jarry after giving up a third goal on five shots, but eventually go up 4-3. Sabres then take advantage of Pens' lazy mistakes in their own end and now lead 5-4. Rakell ties it up late, and who else but Sidney Crosby seals the win in OT.

What a night...would have been quite a game to see in person.

What a pleasant surprise to have a tendy that can actually stop the puck! And so far, it looks like Mitchy is trying to get that contract done with his work ethic.

I have not followed the Leafs closely in a long time, but I can't help hearing stuff about them living in Southern Ontario the past 8 years. It seems like the goalie position tends to be an area of weakness for them?

Well, so far I'm liking what little hockey I actually get to see, and I'm gonna make my bold prediction of what I expect: Rangers winning the cup in 2025. 🏒

I wouldn't begrudge it to the Leafs, Canucks, or Bruins either! Just as long has the habs miss the playoffs again, then all is right in the world.

Closest team to my location Geographically is Winnipeg (doing extremely well so far!!) but Minnesota is only an hour further and they just might be my dark horse expansion team favorite...

PS: looking for Ovechkin to catch on fire soon and really chase that goal record 🔥

I have a soft spot for the Jets. I decided to make them my team when they returned to Winnipeg in 2011. I am just a bit out-of-touch with what the roster looks like right now... but I'm happy to see them off to a winning start this season!
