No love for the color red?

Partial to C.A.R. but there are other shades that are really beautiful, especially the transparent colors. There's something classy about a transparent cherry bass with a pearl white guard, fretless ebony board and gold hardware. Yeah!

I agree! - the "longhorn's" unique 22 fret design has been much maligned over the years by J traditionalists and due to that it sells used for very reasonable prices, especially for a now vintage US made Fender bass. I've done a few upgrades on mine (NJ4 pu's, pearl pg, Schaller 3D bridge, Schaller Deluxe tuners, Gretsch pointer knobs) which were well worth it because it has "good bones"

Red is one of my favorite colors for a bass although I have yet to own one. Currently if you want red you have to take a Mexican model but every one I have owned has been a fine bass:

one of my band's sub guitar players will only own red guitars. He has sold guitars that were "not red enough" because they were like, gibson heritage cherry, and chase down obscure 1 year colors. He's got a beautiful red (I think he said it's called ruby) les paul.

I like red, but something about red fenders just look like cheap knockoffs to me. (no offense intended, and i'm only talking about colors like squier's "torino" red)

I have a USA Jazz and a Ray in transparent red over ash. Come to think of it, There's a '90s Peavey Sarzo trans red over ash in the stable as well. Plenty of love for red here.
