I'm a big fan of red. My two favorite finished are CAR with a white pearloid guard or filp it to a vintage white with red pearloid guard.

So, I am in the market for a new four string bass and it appears red is becoming an endangered color. No American Fender Professional Series and no Music Man Sterlings or Stingrays come in red. What's up? Why do the guitars always have more color choices?

Do most bassists get sunburst instruments (a choice that is offered by pretty much all manufacturers)? Am I in the minority for what bassists want?

You can always get a 4003, 4003s, or 4004.

Believe all are available in read.

And sound better than those listed..

My '85 p bass in red sparkle. Sorry for the crappy pic, my iPad 2 is getting long in the tooth. I've always like red basses, I must have about four in different hues of red. My in ear monitors are even red! Good thing it's my favorite color. Oddly enough, I don't have any blue basses, which I love the old Steve Harris p. I really dig that color.

Defenitly not a red person at all ... BUT I wasn't gonna say no to my main bass because it's red so I guess I wouldn't and didn't say no to a GREAT bass just because of the color ... alleva coppolo LM5 in fire red

I have a candy cola red P bass that I'm selling soon because it's a good bass but not good enough to struggle repainting it.
I got tired of the color after about 5 months of owning it.

I did a Warmoth J 6 years ago in Candy Apple Red because I always loved the look on muscle cars back in the day.
With matching headstock and ebony board. That's red Abalone in the knobs.

This year I wanted a P bass with a J neck. I found a 63AVRI body in Seminole Red and went from there.

My first red bass was this early 60's Hagstrom Coronado IV. Still have it.

Gone but not forgotten.

I love red now. But not a dark burgundy color. I mean RED. Or be fair, bright red or just bright colors in general are less popular now compared to more natural or subdued colors.
