Yeppers, about half the bass player wanted CL adds in this neck of the woods say equipment provided.

North central Alabama. Granted most are either P&W or bro country and most of them are probably dead ends, but they are there. I've called a few when they where looking for straight country or blues players and most of them sounded more like getting together in a barn or basement and playing a few songs until everyone got too drunk to care how awful it sounded. Kinda like having a private bar party with a band only without the bar or the money. I've never tried any of the P&W adds as they mostly make it clear they are looking for committed christians and like many other aspects of my life, I am uncomfortable wearing my faith on my sleeve. My faith is strong, but it a very personal matter with which I need no help adjusting to current trends in worship. Based on limited personal experience in that regard, this puts me in a very small minority as it fails to measure up to what most folks who embrace contemporary organized christian religion would consider the right way to be. I am an apolitical believer and from what I've seen and what little I've experienced, most mainstream believers these days would consider me to be on the wrong side of what they consider the right way to believe. I'm not opposed to the music, I play a lot of old time gospel with my dad all the time, but a band is complicated enough without adding the feeling I've got to be less than honest about something in order to fit in.

Please keep in mind It's rare I look at bass player wanted adds on CL, but every once in a while when I've got a little spare time I'll skim them just to see what's going on in the real world of music.

Meh. You're all just mad that OP isn't paying his share of your SS checks. Buy him a bass, suggest a free alternative, or move along. There's plenty of elitist fancy bass threads for people with fancy basses...or just basses...that you can post in with all of your finger waving and credit score bragging.

You don't need to buy a bass in order to play one. Just go to your local Guitar Center and learn to play by "trying out" their basses and amps for a few hours each day. That's what everyone else seems to do.
