I did not insult anyone. I see a different irony from a different point of view. The fact that people got insulted just proves to me that they are indeed in the state of mind that I referenced initially.

Those who are still hardwired to the matrix will defend it to the death. The very people we are trying to wake up from oppression will defend their oppressors. It is stockholm syndrome. The point the wachowskis were trying to make through the words of Morpheus. Using the offensive tactic of saying "that's just a movie dude!" Will just reinforce that the entire point is missed. It is a metaphor for reality. The dollar and debt based economic construct is the common oppressor that the masses don't seem to be aware of, or at the very least they accept it as "just the way it is". Consume! Obey!

Money has no real value. It just solves the problem of barter by employing the commutative property of equality. If A=B and B=C then A=C whereby money is B. Without money it would be harder to figure out how many minutes of bricklaying is worth exchanging for a cheeseburger and a side of fries.

A bass is part of that formula as equally as money and labor or any other tangible form of value are. Proposing that when someone asks about one he should not hear a response involving the other is naive.

Unless you own no physical possesions whatsoever, do absolutley nothing to generate income, never spend any money, and never consume anything at all, then your Matrix-based philosophy is just the solid version of horse farts.

My glorious ex-wife once took a bag full of old beer cans from my childhood collection to the recycling machines, and it was paying 10 cents a whack for dead brands last produced in the mid 1970s. Maybe they've changed things since I left, but it used to be a lucrative racket for folks from adjacent states.

Not worth arguing about further. I agree with many of your points, but still my sentiment was and remains to be missed. I am used to that. I own basses, I am torn on the issue of material possessions, but rhe majority of mine have practical uses, tools of a trade, objects that provide enjoyment in their usage. Still I do not fall for the.consumer upgrade/obsolecence bull, and tend to keep things for a long time that others tend to flip/upgrade for the new one every couple/few years. I do live in reality, but I am aware that our reality is under a lot of non natural control. And a bunch of red elephants waving their fists in the air yelling "get a job!" Just perpetuates the solid horse fart reality that we are subject to.

There has to be a better way. But we are not getting there.

The answers are spread among many blatant commercial fictional franchises. Truth is hidden in fiction. Maybe not the answers, but a metaphoric representation of what is really going on that the masses are blind to.

Some are more clever than others. Say what you may about the sequels, but the matrix is an above average movie with an above average message, for those that care to go so deep.

Even star wars has some of that. And so much is said in pulp sci fi from the 20's to the 70's that the creators of these blantant commercial franchises drew from.

Perhaps the best example of a movie stating reality is "they live" starring roddy piper. The director even said it was more of a documentary than a movie.

And I have had personal experiences that proved to me that something is going on.

I can't comment on the dystopian filter other than to say it makes it difficult to have a pragmatic or credible conversation.
