No Response from Gallien-Krueger Part Deptarment

At this point, I'm beginning to doubt that - also, IIRC, a fellow countryman of yours was able to obtain the schematic that you claim G-K wouldn't give you - what's up with that???

I don't know what's up with that. This is the e-mail I sent to G-K followed by their reply:

"Hi!

I own a Gallien-Krueger 1200 SEB amp that I bought new in 1989 (or 1990). It served me well for many years, but now it's in need of repair. Could you please send me a schematic? The shop that I bought it from went bankrupt years ago.

Thanks,

Michael"

"Michael,

I’m sorry, schematics for the model 1200SEB is not available for distribution.

Kind regards,

My fellow countryman (who kindly sent me a copy of his schematic) got his years ago.

I didn't do anything to damage the amp. I bought it new back in '89 or '90 and used it for many years. Last year it wouldn't turn on so I gave to an amp guy to repair. He asked me for a schematic and I said I'd try to get one. I was as surprised as anyone that G-K wouldn't send me one.

Yup, similar experience here. Had a 700 RB-II that started making irritating noise. Asked for a schematic and never got a reply. Luckily the offending part managed to completely die during troubleshooting which made things that much easier (faulty resistor in power amp board, works now). I suppose they'd have been happy to sell me a new circuit board for 100 bucks + shipping + taxes.

Im still waiting...no respons on my emails from GK. Im also waiting for some parts for my Fusion..and even the repairman warned me about GK being very slow when it comes to delivering parts.

I, likewise, e-mailed GK to inquire about 800RB knob inserts in November and received no reply. Does anybody know if these are available?

they are available and cost 90 cents each. I just bought a '97 400RB amp second hand and it was missing a couple knob caps. called GK to ask about the knob caps (same as the 800RB) and placed my order in all of about ten minutes.

my first experience with GK cs was a few years ago when I ordered a 2001RBP from Bass Central. it was back ordered and I was told it would be two weeks or so before the unit would ship. after about a month, I called Bass Central to find out what was happening and they said they'd call GK to find out. maybe an hour later, Jason from GK called to let me know why it had taken longer than normal. he then patiently answered all of questions about the preamp and told me to call back at any time if I needed any kind of help. when the unit was ready to ship, I got another call from Jason and he wanted my permission to ship directly to my residence instead of to bass central so I could have it as soon as possible. when it arrived, I found a GK branded Dickies work shirt in the box. they dealt with me honestly and showed me they were concerned about me as their customer. I would not hesitate to buy another GK product in the future.

I suggest to the op to pick up the phone and call the toll free number. you have nothing to lose and everthing to gain.

Odin70, stop complaining about unanswered E-mails, pick up your phone and call Lany Valdez, GK's go-to girl for factory parts:

(209) 234-7300, extension 120. 9AM-4PM, Mon-Fri

I ordered that way not more than a month ago, it was quick and easy. Parts arrived at my door three days later!

Edit: oops, you are in Norway. You're going to want to convert that time as it's Pacific Standard.

Reviving an old thread here, but my MB200 just purchased on 6/6/11 and delivered 6/9/11 from Amazon, just took a big ol' dump tonight. I have an e-mail sent in and I certainly am not expecting any type of response before Monday, but maybe I should just call on Monday morning anyway. How has current response times been and have the older issues been resolved? What do I have to look forward to here?

My Fusion 550 that I got from Amazon developed an intermittent problem the second week. I could never get to a live person calling them so I left a message and sent and email, neither of which they responded to, so I returned the unit for a refund. List the return reason as defective and Amazon will refund shipping as well. I bought a new 800 a few years back and it was defective out of the box. Second one was OK. I've always thought of them as reliable, but they are actually the only pieces of gear I have had problems with. I really like their products but they are dropping the ball with customer support, and perhaps QC. Are you listening GK?

Unfortunately I'm screwed as far as service from Amazon. It has been just over 30 days, but I do have 2 years of warranty from GK, if I can get anyone to pay attention. My fingers are crossed that I get the good service that some people talk about and not the crap that seems to be becoming more and more prevalent. I'll be back to let you know either way

You should try the Live Chat with Amazon. It's worth a try regardless of the 30 day thing. Don't give up so easily.

Why not take it to an authorized service center? If it can't be fixed, they should be able to help you get it exchanged.

I looked at that but the closest service center to me is over an hour away. If you looked at a map of where I live, It would probably most resemble that map Lewis and Clark was using. :smug: (I'm out in the sticks).

I will try the amazon live chat thing

You were absolutely right, sir. They gladly accepted a return and have already shipped a replacement unit using one day shipping as well as paid for return postage on the defective unit. I still can't say anything about GK service, but Amazon's is the best!

Hi Brain, I’ve been a very happy Gallien-Krueger user for about 30 + years. And as you know there are millions of other happy GK users just like me. Thank you for posting the support contact information - I doubt I’ll ever need it but it is nice to know GK customer service is good. :)
