Has anybody used the Noble through an Ampeg SVT Classic? I like the sound I get out of the amp but I feel like it's missing something and the Noble looks like the answer to that.

Hi @samthebassist24 - Tim Lefebvre does exactly this as his tour rig for Tedeschi Trucks Band. Have a look at the YouTube videos and you'll hear his thoughts on this setup. ;)

I am very intrigued by the Noble. I am currently using an Orange AD200 MK3 witch matching 4x10. Tube tone is where it's at but by going with the Orange head, I did not get a balanced DI. Every where we gig does something different with my rig. One guy will mic it, one guy will use a green Radial DI and another ran that same Radial out of the slave output. Has anyone used the Noble with the Orange AD200? I also run a MXR Micro Amp for a boost and Peterson Strobe Classic tuner. Bass is a 2014 Gibson Thunderbird and I play with a pick.

Having a dedicated DI to travel with is a great tool to ensure you get consistent sound night to night. If you want top of the line, hand made quality then the Noble is a great choice. I haven't used it with that head but I've used with many different backline heads and it always improves on the inherent sound.

Have you used it with other all tube heads? Like the SVT?

I use an FDEC 100% of the time; I hate boomy bass. With the FDEC, I'm probably have it set around 100Hz.

Would I be able to eliminate my FDEC if I used the Noble instead?

Probably. Rolls off at 6db per octave starting at 150 hz. It's passive so the higher starting point might be ok for you. Not adjustable - it's a switch - either on or off.

Even for guys who carry an FDECK and a power station it's nice to be able to travel light sometimes.

I am that guy. I should have mine tomorrow. It was a very long wait, but now that it's almost over, I don't mind it.
Awesome, I can't wait to hear your thoughts! Did you go with NOS tubes or the JJ's?

And I agree about the wait. It didn't seem so bad the moment I hit at the first gig with this bad boy. I swear, with in ears, it feels like having a tube amp installed into your head.

Almost 5 months now, and I'm Absolutely LOVING my Noble!

Octabvre FTW! Sweet board!

I went JJ's. I thought about NOS but I think JJ's will be just fine.

I got the Noble today and spent an hour so far playing my basses through it and trying different pedals. I really like this pre. It does what I expected, which is really give me that thick, 3D tone that works so well in mixes and live. Ran it through a spectrum analyzer and my ears did not decieve me. Peaking fundamentals harmonics were thinner through my Audient DI. The noble thickens them up and makes them even clear. The Audient JFET DI is a real nice piece of gear, but it's no match for the Noble if you want a warm, thick tube tone.

When I hit the HP switch, I definitely noticed a lack of lows, but I really like this feature and can see how it is incredible for live shows. It's mainly cutting out 20-60hz the most. There is a 10 db cut around 50hz. So the lows are still there, but they will not take up so much space. It will really focus your bass tone in a live mix. I boosted the bass all the way and it gives a very punchy effect. Focuses the lows at higher frequency.

I was sold on this pre when playing high on the neck with my Passive Moollon J and just having a warm, thick solo tone that has so much more presence in the mix. It is so easy to dial the tone up that I didn't have to really do much. I boost the bass and treble a little. You can hear it before even hitting 9 o clock, so it doesnt need much.

Also have to add that my 5th gear OD pedal easily drives the tubes and puts hair on them without really needing to be dialed up at all either. I run that pedal at around 9 and it clearly pushes the tubes even at that setting.

This is great feedback. I'm hoping to get one soon as well!

Great info! Thanks!
