Noble Amps Preamp

Thank you for the replies.
I love the cab I have but it's heavy (100lbs) and awkward to move. I want to get one of these which means I won't need the powered cab any more. Even if the weight equates the same with the added weight of the head...the cab/head combo should be easier to move. I don't move my cab much now but when I do it sucks. I'm reluctant to transport it due to its suckyness.View attachment 975935

Not that I have to be sold on the magic going on in this little box of pure awesomeness... but I just plugged up my old Ibanez EDB700... I haven't really played it in almost a year. The last time I did, my thoughts were.. man, has this always sounded this bad? What was I thinking?
Mind you, this was through a GK MB800... not bashing the head, loved the power, just got frustrated with knob twisting.

Fast forward... through the Noble, it made me not want to sell it any more!!
LOVE THIS BOX!!
I'm definitely changing out the Ernie Ball Regular Slinkys that I can't stand any more, but I'm thinking the old Ibby will be getting some love... of course with the Noble ;)

@Dave Hill has an F212 over in Dacula. It's hands down the best sounding cabinet I've ever had experience with. His uncle has an F112 and swears it just kills his Berg410. I have in person witnessed his F212 go above and beyond my Ampeg 810

Order your power amp and come on by and hook it up!

I'd like to hear that! Paired with my 12/6 or F210 it's amazing

Question for Noble power amplifier users.....what cabs are you using with these?

I have the pre/di paired with a bergantino ip cab. Looking at getting the power amplifier and a new cab setup. I want something voiced close to what I've got. Could go with another bergantino cab. Been looking at the fearless f212 but not sure if this is what I'm looking for. Jack mentioned techamp. Any thoughts?

Hey Allen

I've used my Noble through through the front end and also straight to the preamp on numerous amp types including SVT's, Genz Benz streamliners, Acme focus, mark bass etc I've also played through numerous cab types including my own fEARless 115, ampeg 810 and 410, mark bass, peavy etc

It always sounds good. Using my streamliner
straight to the power amp into my F115 it's great without needing any additional EQ however with some of the other combos I would have liked something between the Noble and the head (this mainly to do with voicing of the cabs) but not front of house as I'm constantly complimented on the sound at the desk.

Cheers

Ben

Ok guys, I'm needing some suggestions .
I don't like asking questions like this, because in a this is MY favorite type responses...
I'm wanting to try some new strings on my Ibanez .. as mentioned above , after playing it through the Noble I'm appreciating the bass again.
But I can't stand the string noise of the Ernie Ball Super Slinkys that are on there...
I'm wanting to use the Ibanez at church for more melodic ambient type situations, the string noise is driving me crazy .
I know flats would do away with that, but haven't found any I like. I'm about to try a set of La Bella on my Lakland Skyline Duck Dunn .. but I'm not sure flats would work on the Ibby...
Any suggestions on less noisy strings??
Thanks in advance

Maybe try a nickel set instead of stainless. I have a love/hate thing for flats. Sometimes they seem too boomy for me. So I would try nickels and put a piece of foam between back pickup and bridge.

I've got Fender Flats on my '95 Precision, and TI Jazz Flats on my '73. Both sound ridiculously good through the Noble. I agree with trying nickel strings on the Ibanez though. DR Sunbeams are warm and are very smooth feeling strings.

I may just give the Sunbeams a try, because I absolutely love the Black Beauties that are on my D. Lakin JO .
Thanks. for all the suggestions guys, I appreciate it !

Anyone experimented with swapping the JJ ECC82 preamp tube in their Noble? I'm not looking for anything in particular from a tonal perspective and I'm extremely happy with the sound of the preamp as it is. Just seems like an interesting experiment-

I was thinking next time I need tubes about putting EHX 12AX7's in it.

Word of caution: I'd suggest running that by the manufacturer first. 12AU7s are capable of a lot more plate current than 12AX7s are and if they're biased in the typical 12AU7 sweet spot (~8-10mA as opposed to ~1-2mA for a typical 12AX7) in the Noble, putting a 12AX7 in there would be bad. You can safely sub an AU7 for an AX7 pretty much anywhere but there's no guarantee that you can safely do it the other way around. Ignore if "12AX7" is a typo. :D
