Noble Amps Preamp

I'm using a standard (T/S) 1/4 " phone jack shielded cable with mine. Works just fine. As far as I know there's no need/requirement for anything else.

Thanks, just wondering as when I had a Sonic Farm 2di4 the unbalanced preamp-to-amp XLR-to-quarter inch cable had a specific wiring configuration that was hard to find, so I had my cable tech build one. If I get a Noble, I want to have all the ducks lined up. It's also a situation where I'd probably have a high quality cable w/good connectors made to order. Kind of dumb to have the "last mile" be the worst signal quality.

I think they call that a Quasi balanced connection. It is the same as what was used on the Bergantino IP cabs Jim had years ago.Basicly it is a Xlr wired to a TRS jack like a TS Jack.It is where the wires from the XLR go one wire hot to Tip on TS Jack and the ground wire and other wire from XLR both go to Ground on TS Jack or on a TRS Jack the sleeve is not used and two wires from XLR go to Both ground.I think Pin1 on XLR is always supposed to be hot though.

Totally OT but this is the wiring for the 2di4 cable, 1/4 to XLR. Probably irrelevant to the Noble.

For the line level DI output: MALE XLR, connect both pin 1 and pin 3 to the ground, pin 2 being your hot signal (jack tip).
For amp Line Input: MALE 1/4" phone jack, leave XLR pin 3 floating (disconnected). Connect pin 1 to the ground, pin 2 to jack tip.

More clarification by Jack:

What you mean by “patch cable” may be a “stereo” version of the 1/4” male/male (TRS, tip ring sleeve).
This would work fine for the preamp (R would be unused) but may not work with your pedals, depending what jacks they use. Some jacks expect a TS cable and use the ring connection on the jack as a ground (expecting it to connect to S when a mono cable is inserted). But the jacks on the preamp, both input and output, can accept a TRS cable without issue.

Ya I had the pins mixed up didn't have a Female XLR to look at since they are usually marked on the end of the XLR.

Almost ready!

What is the module on that? Ice or Hypex?

I just picked up a Noble pre and am absolutely in love with it through the Hypex in my Monique 700.
Makes my P bass sing like never before and my DW Super J/P is on fire through this.
Cant put my bass down once I plug in.
