Read through the first 15 or so pages of this thread while waiting in an ER this morning. Very intrigued! A couple of questions that a search hasn't turned up anything on:

1) Does anybody have any experience with this preamp for double bass running a piezo pickup?
2) What is the input impedance of the unit?

I have not used the Noble with double bass but have with a piezo-based acoustic bass guitar. This video I prepared has recordings with and without the Noble, and compares those to mic'd recordings so you get the full picture with this instrument.

According to the manual, the Noble has:
  • Input impedance of 10Meg ohm, single ended
  • Output impedance (1/4"): 2k ohm @ 30Hz, single ended
  • Output impedance (XLR): 420 ohm @ 30Hz, balanced

I occasionally use the Noble with my DB - mostly when doubling on pit orchestra gigs. It does exactly what it does with everything else you plug into it: gives it that “special sauce” that is hard to define. I guess it’s the harmonic overtones that are subtly added to the signal maybe? Engaging the HPF with double bass is a no-brainer. Gets rid of all that low rumbly watt-stealing signal before it gets to your amp or PA.

Hey @Chris Fitzgerald! I put hundreds of gigs on my Noble using my uprights with the David Gage copperhead and lifeline pickups.

The unit performed very well and I received lots of compliments on the overall tone. The Bass and treble controls work well but I only used them sparingly. I kept an FDeck preamp on my board, but mostly for the phase invert function, as the low cut on the Noble works well on its own.

Let me know if you have any questions - I’m happy to help :)

I see Jack has a Pelican carry case available now. Here’s what I have been using, when it is not mounted to a pedalboard.

Pelican 1400 case, with an area that can hold the IEC power cable, and a tuner.

LOVE this!! If I'm ever able to own another Noble, this will definitely accompany it. And I'm down to a tuner, and Cali 76CB.. both those would fit easily
