Non bass activities

Discussion in 'Off Topic [BG]' started by caesarbass, Feb 12, 2005.

  1. I know all of us are obsessed with basses, amps, practicing, tone, and all other aspects of bass playing, but what other activities do you guys participate in to get your minds off of playing the bass. I'm pretty addicted to mountain biking. I just thought it would be interesting to find out what other things we bass players enjoy doing...hey, keep it clean. :eyebrow:
  2. something besides playing bass........
Target shooting, Linux, hunting, fishing, reading. Thats about it i think. :)

Bass playing isn't really at the top of my list of hobbies and interests. I do lots of stuff including shooting pistols, reading (anything that has words on it, I'm obsessive about it), working on cars, and I'm a big history geek, so I like to get into old buildings and sneak around old parts of town and shoot photos of stuff.

Boxing is my favorite hobby, and with my schedule it's the only hobby I have time for. It's a fun and vigorous workout. I love punching the heavy bag.

I used to target shoot a lot with my .45 ACP pistols but I've been really busy lately. I'm hoping to find the time to visit the shooting range more.

I also plan on getting back into hunting and fishing once my daughters are a little older and can go with me.

Just getting outdoors and digging on nature is tops for me.

For excercise and adrenaline, windsurfing and skiing. I bought a season pass for the first time in a long while this year, so naturally the snow sucks. :meh: I have a mountain bike I don't use enough, criminal given the excellent riding available here.

I watch Zombie movies when I'm not playing bass. I also skateboard a bit and play drums.

Ahhh, the 1911; IMO the greatest auto-loading pistol of all time. The 1911 is what got me interested the .45 ACP. I bought one for my dad in the late 80's as a Father's Day gift.

My favorite is my Sig Sauer P-220, followed by my customized S&W 4506. I guess Colt doesn't manufacture firearms for sale to civilians any longer  , but Kimber and Springfield Armory make some really nice handguns based on the 1911's design.

IMHO John Moses Browning was a firearms genius!

I used to read a lot... I was reading a book a NIGHT in elementary school. Given, there were 232 pages... and they were the "Great Illustrated Classics" series, but thats still a lot for a 9 year old.
