non pedal HPF

I'm curious if there exists a 1/4" cable lump HPF.

I have two places I could stick one, and no pedals (and not looking for any). It occurred to me if someone made

a fixed 80hz 12 db/octave 1ft cable, I can just stick it there. (Use the fx loop if you want to change the slope).

Yeah that could work. Part of why I was seeking to avoid a pedal is to avoid the "two bricks tied together with string" issue. If it were right and and built into the cable, I could leave it plugged in even in the bag.

This.

Active HPF is far more elegant than a bunch of passive components chained together. Either accept a box tied to the amp via 2 cables or get a Mesa head with the built-in adjustable HPF.

In my case, since my gig is ampless, I use the HPF along with the other features available in my HX Stomp.

LC can do it in a single stage but the values get crazy. Couple hundred mH and a couple tens of uF. Two stages of RC could also do it.

I believe the amp has a safety one probably around 30hz.

As I said in the op, I have no pedals at all, and don't want pedals just to do this. I'll just continue to cut bass with the amp's eq rather than do that

That's one way to do it but outcome(s) may vary widely from the desired goal. Any effective HPF'ing will require a peripheral of some ilk whether it be pedal or rackmount. I've gone as far as rack-mounting (extra spaces) the amp and velcroing "always on" devices on top of the amp chassis.

RC works way better. 47k ohms, 39nF gets an 87hz cutoff. Two stages might even fit inside the amp. Actually putting it in the effects loop short would let me use the FX blend knob to lessen the slope, and if you actually plug in it would bypass it.

There have been lots of tries at using a passive solution chronicled on Talkbass, very few people ultimately seemed happy with that. If you have enough makeup gain available it might be OK for your purposes, very likely wouldn't be for mine. Hard to predict without factoring all the pre existing rolloffs in your signal chain. Best of luck!

I'm not a fan of pedals at all myself BTW. ;)
