I'm not necessarily interested in how to recreate Timmy C's tone (although I'd love to), but more in how his bass conveys such power.
If you have a listen to Moth by Audioslave, which is a beautiful song in and of itself, the bass enters the main riff like it's going to knock your front door down!
I'm curious how he achieves this level of power in his tone. I'm not sure that it's a case of the mixing or production of the song. I saw Prophets of Rage live last year. They were brilliant, but more importantly I managed to get right down to the front of the stage and the feeling of power that came from his bass was just immense. So it's managing to achieve it both live and in the records.
Any ideas?
