Got this yesterday, only been fiddlin with it for a couple hours,WOW what have I been missing out on all these years, this box is incredible,I'm so impressed just with how it fully rounds out your sound,I've got my GK MB112 controls set flat and I'm using the box to polish the tone,I'm guessing that's the best way? Sounds good, fat and warm...way to go Aguilar!! 0124150846.jpg

Here's another way to think of it:

AGS on sounds like an amp; the higher end is rolled off slightly, and gets gritty as you push it. It plays well with other things in front of it too.

With AGS off it's more of a really sweet sounding EQ pedal. Less amp like, more direct box / strip on a good mixer.

I rarely turn off the pedal entirely, but I do switch between AGS on and off. It's a fine line to balance levels, but there are ways around it.

The main thing is to explore, write down settings you like then find others!

im a little confused, if you run it into the effects loop of your amp doesnt it bypass your preamp completely and basically just become a tonehammer amp in some senses. in example i have the tc rh750 if i run the pedal through the effects loop doesnt that mean i am now basically using a tonehammer 750 or does it just color my sound a tad bit. i want the th500 sound should i buy the pedal or amp head?

Yes, that is basically what it does. I first got a TH pedal, and ran it into the effects return on my GB Shuttle, effectively turning the Shuttle into a power amp for the pedal. It sounded so good, in the end I sold both the pedal and the amp and used the $$$ to fund buying a TH350 head.

Ultimately the TH heads are more flexible in that the AGS is variable, although some might argue that you lose the ability to switch that feature on and off. Some people might also want to keep the ability to "switch back" to their other amp's sound. But if you become smitten with the Aguilar TH tone like I did, I'd suggest selling the pedal and your TC amp, and going out to buy a TH500. Or, even better, sell the TC for the TH, keep the pedal, and use it to give you a "second channel", something I hope to do someday when I can add back in another TH pedal. :)

Thanks so much, unfortunately i cant sell my tc head due to never taking care of my equipment and it being so dinged up that it probably wouldnt sell for much. So basically ill be starting from scratch.
