NPD DSM Noisemaker OmniCabSim

Maybe you can design a separate, great headphone amp that would have an input for the OCS, and a stereo input for whatever source you're using (phone, CD, etc.)

I wish I knew I had a real use for one of these because I'd gladly buy into the presale. Sadly, I barely gig.
Well it is not a bad headphne amp at all,it was the best sounding one of all the previous designs i tried..
I could design a dedicated headphone amp, but there are a lot on the market, and i like to design things that are not available and may find a nice niche for it..the main value of the OCS is it cabinet shaping abilities, and the headphone out came up because it was a common request when i launched the first version..i think is a very nice feature to have..

I figured there was a good reason. But I had to ask. :)
I have thought of the headphone out as being mainly for practicing. But when you mention monitoring as well... it gives me plenty of new ideas :)

I'm of course still interested, for sure! Do you want me to PM you, send you a mail or anything else to get on the list?!

Cheers,
Kalle
In a few days i will setup a page for pre orders..i will let you all know..
Please then help me sharing the heck out of it :)

BTW,
I'm going to post the production progress here, so you'll know what I'm up to.

Currently, i have the prototype up and running. Made a lot of testing regarding hiss reduction and the new DI circuit, which is a lot louder than the previous design.

I'm also closing the deals with the boards assembly and enclosure manufacturing. I can afford fabrication, but I'm a little short for custom taxes and services, that's why i started a preorder process, so please support the project, you won't be dissapointed with the new unit.

I'll start ordering the production on monday, after that, i will be working on a new packing and monitoring production..

Regards!!!
Daniel

I really thought I was done buying pedals...:(

The deluxe version looks super cool, and very useful! I'm really thinking you had me at aux input. Should be easier to practice on AND it's slightly less expensive than the upcoming GK pedal pre. I think I might hafta get in on this...

Dammit! We gotta move, I'm trying to get a new DSLR, AND I'm wanting to order a new fretless, BUT you guys keep coming out with this super cool stuff I can use...:banghead:

Sounds great! This was much quicker than I expected. Just waiting for others to join the deal now (shouldn't be a problem, it's such an excellent product concept).

Thanks for the update!

This is probably a dumb question, I know this is a cab sim, but can it do preamp duty? Meaning, with the 6db line level boost, will it drive a power amp?
That's a very good question!!
It depends on the input sensitivity of the power amp. Most amps have a 1Vpp input sensitivity, so in theory, it would drive a power amp easily..

hi guys!
I´m thinking about making a pre sale for the Deluxe OCS. I´m finishing the details with the PCB assembly guys and the enclosures..
i´m a bit short of cash to order the 100 units i want to make this time, so i´d just need to pre sell 4 or 5 units to wrap it up and go ahead.

by the way i present you the Deluxe OCS design:

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

I´m stepping up build quality by having the enclosure powder coated in black, cnc machined, and use white and gold silkscreen printing for graphics for a cleaner, neater look.

The panel is more intuitive now, more descriptive.

The controls and funtions are the same, just adjusted the high response to a slightly higher range.

Also, it features a very powerful headphone amp output and aux input.

The XLR DI Out now is completely separated from the normal output, and amplified by a NE5532 opamp, which is specifically designed for low impedance inputs with very low noise.

Also, improved the design for better noise performance overall..

I will be selling these for U$259 + shipping

For pre sells, the price will be U$219 + shipping and the units will be signed and personally dedicated on the bottom lid.

please let me know if there´s interest so i go and setup a pre sale page on the site..

ps: i´m very thankful for all of you guys at talkbass forum, you have been a tremendous support!

@SkinCoffin

Cliffs - big old 810 ampeg stack in a box, with headphone jack for silent jamming. pretty reasonably priced and you can, i am pretty sure, bypass the box and only send it FOH for a cab like affect.

you cheeky little Chilean, what a ripper little device.

Hey Speyer!
Thanks, i just received your order.

The omnicabsim deluxe is being produced these days. So far so good. The enclosure guys needed a 3D render of the box so i had to learn CAD really fast..after a few hours i had a 3D model of the enclosure..

Apart from that quick cad learning day, everything is going fine..

Thanks for your support! And spread the word !

My OCS drives one channel (bass pup) of my Crest 2.0 when I run my 4003's in ROS mode, which is now 100% of the time. A Barbershop and VMTD drive the treble channel.

In mono mode, I went Barbershop, VMTD then OCS bridged. DI from the OCS to the board.

Either case, the OCS works great as a pre.

No new updates yet..
Just maybe let you know that in the meantime, I'm designing a kickass distortion/od/fuzz pedal. It works wonderful with bass, since it lets you tweak the bass and treble response before the gain stages..

Here are some short audio clips of it:
