NPD DSM Noisemaker OmniCabSim

Wow Thanks Daniel, You posted that while I was typing. I will make sure that they set it up that way next time.

Lol, telepathy

About the phantom menace..
Honestly, i have no idea because it has never happened or at least been reported.
The risk is theoretical so far, since the output capacitors are rated for 25v..maybe phantom power has too little current to damage them. I guess if it couldn't handle it, the caps will be toasted and the DI out would die (new caps should fix it), but the rest of the pedal should be fine.
I changed the caps to 50v on the next batch (october) ..that should be enough to protect from phantom voltage.

Thanks for the feedback. I am using a live wire (One Spot) power source and right now the OCSD is the only thing on the power source. I am thinking that the issue was with the board because I noticed a couple of things. 1) With the unit off the bass channel had a lot of gain on it, The OCSD was actually taking some of the volume out. 2) Before setting up I was worried that I had enough gain to run through the Tech 21 bass driver DI without having the unit on (something I had previously not been able to do) but that morning I had tons of gain with that unit off. Since I play in a rotation at church I am wondering if someone was trying to run with out the Tech21 Driver Di and they had the gain on that channel maxed out, then I walk in without needing that. The only weird thing was it was still quieter with the OCSD off than with it on but if there is a little noise that is getting maxed out at the front of the desk???

One other question. I was sure that I told everyone to turn OFF the phantom power and I had them double check. But what would happen if it was on? I know the OCSD would be toast but would it pass signal? would it be distorted? how would you know that you toasted it? I am buying a blocker but I'm curious.

If you're playing in rotation, the gain should always be reset to each player before hand anyway... just to keep scenarios as you described from happening

Well.. I'm still working on it, but it is in fact a mini omnicabsim :) ..
It has the high response and resonance controls, and a switch for 3 cab sizes (combo, stack and fridge)

The bottom controls are gain and level. So it acts more like an amp. With the gain control you go from linear cleans to compressed, and up to a nice tubey soft OD.
1/4 out can be set as cabsim or through.
I think that just for the DI in a small footprint, it is a great value..

When can we expect this to be available? Love my OCSD, but could enjoy saving some room with this and run the OCSD for other players when I am running sound.

I got to use the OCSD live for the first time last night during worship. Our Sunday night service runs ampless. For other players, I’ve always eq’d in a similar way to what the OCSD does, so I turned off the bass channel eq and ran direct to the board. There was a lot of noise in the di out, but I am assuming that was from the OCSD being daisy-chained with 6 other pedals on a one-spot. I’ll have to see if there is still noise with my isolated power supply. There is not much to say except that this makes running direct sound phenomenal! I can do the same thing with a versatile eq, but this lets anyone get good results. With all the features packed in this box, it’s hard to say that doing it another way is actually better, easier, or more cost effective. This was the setup last night:

I’m looking to start doing more recording, so I hope to have some samples at some point, just not quite yet.

Can’t wait for the smaller version!

I had been having some noise issues and @Dsmnoisemaker was super helpful via PM. I was ready to just accept the pedal made too much noise for me and as a last ditch effort stopped using my Fuel Tank Jr and put in a battery. The noise was gone and I could really hear how this pedal works!

If you’re having noise issues don’t give up on the pedal before checking your power supply.

Public thank you, Daniel!
