NPD DSM Noisemaker OmniCabSim

Yes!
Is the same size of the thumpinator
This is amazing. When I first saw the mini OCS announcement I thought, “cool, mxr sized box.” Then I keep reading, see pictures and see you went all in and fit it all into that tiny little box. :woot::woot: Amazing!!! Like others, I also have an OCSD and this is still super tempting. Well done!!

@Dsmnoisemaker - I'm curious if the "Fridge" setting on the mini is simply the "cab size" knob on the deluxe set to 8x10 or if it's voiced a little differently? (i.e. somewhere on the spectrum between 1x15 & 8x10 on the deluxe?)

I'm in a sort of dilemma with whether or not to pre-order the mini. I need to keep my Deluxe, since it replaced my DI box and my headphone/practice setup. That said, I also love having the tone shaping features because it makes all of my dirt/distortion sound better. I'd happily keep the deluxe at home for practice and recording on my computer, and throw the mini on my board. The only thing is that I'm not sure how close it can get to the settings I prefer on the deluxe. For reference I typically go:
  • High Response - Vintage
  • Cab Size - 1x15B
  • Resonance - Big Closed but not quite maxed out (~4:00)
  • Punch - 12:00
  • Mid Response - Flat (maxed)

The "Fridge" is the cab size at max (65HZ resonant HPF) the resonance is variable by the homonymous knob. The "stack" is at 120hz and the "combo" at 170hz.
Cheers!!

mOCS really ticks all of my boxes! These are seriously the #1 thing I recommend to everyone who is interested in pedals - guitar and bass. Since I use Greenboy cabs with relatively flat response the OCS is a vital part of my signal chain...my rig doesn't really work without it.

I wish you all the success in the world with the mOCS - and greatly anticipating mine shipping out!

Ok guys and gals...
I tried to find the answer to my question in the manual, but my old tired eyes couldn't read the microscopic print...

Can the OCSD be ran into a power amp, such as a Crest Prolite 2.0, or the like.. then power amp to cab??
Absolutely, that's a great way to get great bass amp tone from a mostly linear amp.

If you want the Cab Sim you’d want the 1/4 or XLR out to your power amp.

The through bypasses the Omni Cab Sims tone controls.

Good deal, thanks... I definitely want the OCSD.. it's too good to pass through  ..
I guess I'll be utilizing the 1/4" .. that leaves the xlr open to go DI

THANKS Y'ALL!! I appreciate it

Yep, this is gonna work out REALLY well!! :hyper:
@hbabels .. @Dsmnoisemaker .. thanks so much for y'alls input..

Nano.. Cali 76CB...Korg Pitchblack...mThumpinator... OCSD... to Carvin DCML1000L(for now) Bridged... Fearless F112

It's a mess right now, because I just threw it together to see how it worked and dial it in... but yeah, it works. Quite well!

I have a question for ya’ll. I am currently running a Zoom B3n into a Yamaha DSR112 powered monitor as my rig. I was using an MS60b as my amp/cab sim, and have decided to sell it and go with the amp sims in the B3n and preorder a Mini! My question is, will the Mini take the place of the HPF and/or LPF in my B3n? That would free up three spots for other things in my patches.

Yes and no. It will give you the high frequency roll-off of high pass and low pass filters. It can also give the slight bump at each of the corner frequencies that are common with speaker cabinets.

There are pretty good graph representations of it in the manual on the dsmnoisemaker site.

Hey guys!!!!
I'm glad you are aware of the preorders!

The gain on the mini works differently than the OCSD..it has more boost and some soft clipping and gain-variable filtering going on..
At low levels it's fairly clean, but above noon it starts compressing and adding a mid range sweetness as it goes up.
The volume is a master volume control so it's easier to not overdrive the DI out.

The mid setting is fixed about 75% (on what it would be on the omni) and..no punch control... that's for the deluxe :)

Daniel,

You mentioned the mid control is at 75% so there’s a little mid scoop going on. Is it reasonable to assume “no punch” would mean the punch is at 0% with its voicing? Thanks for any help.

Ps. I see you mentioned there are some increased mids as the amp gain rolls up. What frequency spectrum do those mids come in or is that too simplistic view to look at it?
