Hi there Husky!!Daniel,
You mentioned the mid control is at 75% so there’s a little mid scoop going on. Is it reasonable to assume “no punch” would mean the punch is at 0% with its voicing? Thanks for any help.
Ps. I see you mentioned there are some increased mids as the amp gain rolls up. What frequency spectrum do those mids come in or is that too simplistic view to look at it?
Yes, the punch knob was taken out of the circuit, so it´s in 0
The Gain knob works by limiting the bass and treble progressively as you turn it up, counteracting the scoop, and making the clipping more mid-focused (you don´t want low frequencies clipping or it will fart like an old man after having burritos). This "mid recovery" is very wide, from 300Hz to 2khz and not peaking, more like a wide arc, while still keeping the low and high peaks.
Nice thing to know is how important is power clipping for cleaner/slightly OD tones. But for high gain, it blurs things..I often grin when a metal player say that his tone relies on power amp clipping..yeah right... all high gain amps are practically HiFi power amps and when they clip, its awful..
