Nudists! Any nudists here?

We just did one of these gigs last month. The band stayed clothed, although our drummer took his shirt off. After about 5 minutes, the novelty wore off and it seemed very much like one of our typical gigs...the crowd was pretty much the same type of folks as our normal crowd, just with different outfits on.

Our sax player had the interesting observation on the way to the gig that he had always been told to deal with performance nerves by imagining the crowd naked...so what was he supposed to do here?

I'm a nudist, like many fellow Barcelonians*, and I can tell you that after a while you just go "meh, is that it?".
I've played on the beach for a nudist audience - I was naked too - and, well, you feel it's just another gig.
Seeing so much skin - much of which flappy, hehe - just dampens the overall effect, if any.

*= in BCN only there are 2 nudist beaches, and 8 in a 100km range. Nudism here is tolerated if not sometimes actively encouraged.

Thanks for that, Beamrider. If I were to go hang out at a nude beach prior to sorta get acclimated to it before the gig, I might feel better who knows.

BTW - this is totally waaaay off-topic but I just noticed "Barcelona" - I tried "Estrella" beer just this past week, first time trying a Spanish beer - wow that was pretty damn good Is that considered one of the better Spanish beers or is that just one of the massed-produced ones that many counties have?

If you're thinking you're gonna see a ton of hot chicks, THINK AGAIN. Personally due to my hippy-ness I have no problem with being naked or seeing others naked. It's just a natural thing and it shouldn't be as taboo as society makes it out to be. I say don't wear clothes. The whole point is that you're able to be confident about who you are and not care what others think. Hope this makes you feel better and good luck

I strongly suggest you do, if only to "bust the myth" (yeah, that includes the old "will my soldier salute?" doubts ).
Who knows, you might end up liking it!

Barcelonians love Estrella because it's by tradition the Catalan beer - people here love their roots!
I don't think it gets brewed outside of Spain though, so the one you had was probably imported.
It's considered fairly good and it's by far the most popular in Catalonia (the fact it sponsors the Barcelona Football Club doesn't hurt ).
Personally I prefer the fruitier taste of a Moritz beer (the other local one), but give me an ice-cold Estrella on those sunny days on the beach and I'm the happiest man in the world.

It was unexpected, I had thought (I have no idea why) that it would have been a little more delicate/lighter flavored - maybe like a Japanese beer (Asahi, Sapporo) or maybe Italian beer, like a Peroni. I was surprised that it was so full-tasting - perfect for sitting by the pool on a hot day! I have to get some for this upcoming weekend. I'll give Moritz a shot as well if I can find it here.
All I can say is that Catalans know good beer

Part of the thing about nudism and nudist resorts is that it's NOT about being sexy. It's about it being OK to be a human being, whatever size and shape you happen to be.

Personally due to my hippy-ness I have no problem with being naked or seeing others naked. It's just a natural thing and it shouldn't be as taboo as society makes it out to be. I say don't wear clothes. The whole point is that you're able to be confident about who you are and not care what others think. Hope this makes you feel better and good luck

these. i had plenty of naked experiences when i lived out west ( and a little in new york as well). not too popular in iowa it seems. but, really, it is not about being hot 'n' sexy. it is about being ok with your body and being natural. and a good chance to practice not judging others.

i think that you guys may start to feel over-dressed if you keep your clothes on. i also think that if you get naked but the rest of the band does not, you may feel weird. and never hear the end of it (that would be tough to explain to your wife). once you get there, you will realize you don't have to look good to be naked.

i try to think about my choices in regards to what kinds of stories i will have to tell later. this is an opportunity for a good story (or two). think of it as a growth opportunity. have fun! life is about new experiences!
